Eh it doesn't really that much IMO. Rock is still doing decently enough when it comes to album sales (even though classic rock albums tend to outsell newer albums). Last year, Vampire Weekend, Tool and Slipknot all had a #1 album on the Billboard 200.
I guess I'm glad if MGK offers some mainstream guitar-led alternative in a year where the general public is now completely allergic to anything rock-related.
