yo c'mon how could you think this. 2011 had awesome new for the time-sounding music (let's face it most 2021 pop music is long-in-the-tooth), popular shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, pre-Season 7 The Walking Dead, Obama as the president of the US. 2016 maybe but 2011 definitely had better pop culture than today. Yes but the bad stuff was REALLY bad Still 2021 sucks like a lot, atleast for music. We're getting rappers having their whole mainstream career ruined because they made a dumb offensive remark, which they did apologize over. Meanwhile more and more boring long in the tooth 80s throwback nostalgia is being played replacing everything else. I kind of feel like even 2020 was more progressive and fresh for music than 2021.

It doesn't compare, there was just so much trash in the charts back in 2011. Rap was in a terrible place. And let's not forget the wondrously unfunny memes of that time. 2007-2013 was just trash pop culture all around. The good stuff was amazing but the bad stuff was pure torture. Ans I'll take the overwhelming PC culture of 2021 over the backward culture of 2011 any day

The right wing is way stronger and more aggressive now than it was then. And instead of focusing on those guys, today's "progressiveness" would rather focus on canceling a rapper who made a stupid out of touch joke.

Maybe some exceptions like with Forza Horizon 4, The Owl House, and Avengers Endgame but those are exceptions to the rule... like seriously I find very little redeeming about the late 2010s or early 2020s (I know the early 20s aren't over yet, but we're more than halfway through and it's still really shit)

2019-2021 give it or take it π₯Ίππ I guess 2018 does have way more 2010s vibes than 2019 Right, anti-sjw culture was still a relatively new thing in 2018, edm was still big and trap was mininalist

Due to the fact that Covid has us confined to our homes or close to it, that the fundamentalist Christian Right is more powerful than they've been at any time since probably prohibition, and that the economy is in a depression, everything from March 2020 through now seems separate from the late '10s, even if the music hasn't changed much.
