I was looking up old posts of people complaining about how “current pop culture sucks” and I found this thread from 2006…this is the type of attitude that annoyed me in the mid 2000s. Complete with OP using the word “gay” in a derogatory way. I remember until about 2008, 1997-1999 was the pont everything “went downhill” then that was bumped up to 2000 or 2001, then in the early 2010s it was bumped up to 2004, in the mid 2010s it was bumped up to 2006-2008, now it’s “anything after 2010-2013 sucks!” Different age groups are nostalgic for different times. Xennials and Early Millennials think everything sucked after 2000 or the late 90s, Mid Millennials think everything sucked after 2003/2004, Zillennials think everything sucked after 2007, Zoomers think everything sucked after 2012/2013

I remember when I joined inthe00s it was cool to bash 2006, now I see people more people bashing the 2010s. Now 2006 is long enough ago I’m seeing it though rose colored glasses. When I watch commercial breaks, YouTube videos, and hear songs in 2006, my head goes to “man I miss those days” even though I remember disliking it as it went on! Maybe because it’s now half my life ago and I miss my friends from school or I had much more to look forward too than I do now at 32 years old. I don’t know.
