I don’t really have a specific music genre that I listen to, but I do like hip-hop and R&B the best.

Rock is the only genre that truly resonates with me, it has been my favourite genre since I was a little kid. My favourite sub-genres of rock are alternative (especially '90s alt-rock), nu-metal, indie and to a certain extent, pop-punk/emo. I do like some metal, but i'm not hugely into it.

It's interesting how there can be such a huge difference even though we're only three years apart in age. For me, it was definitely rock, being around when bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park etc. were placing highly on the charts made rock seem so cool and edgy to me as a kid.

I think it’s less so age and more so where we grew up. I feel like hip-hop is significantly less popular in Australia than it is here in the US. I feel like if I lived in Australia then I wouldn’t be into hip-hop as much as I am now. Not only that, but hip-hop is predominantly black and a lot of us black people grow up with hip-hop cause of that.

For instance, I remember a lot of the kids at my school were into Eminem, and hip-hop did chart highly here during the mid-late 2000s. Snap wasn't as much of a thing here in Australia like it was in the US, but hip-hop as a whole was still pretty popular.
