Billie Eilish is not as popular in 2021 as she was in 2019 and 2020, thank goodness. She will not be the defining artist of the early 2020s. She is more 2019 and 2020. She might be one of the definitive artists of the late 2010s. Her music, along with her 2019 debut album and her 2021 follow-up album released sounds reminiscent of the late 2010s depressing pop scene. That sound is long in the tooth and soon to be old news. I read many iTunes reviews of the album she released this year and most people are over that sound. Billie Eilish does not come close to Lady Gaga. She is more of an Adele or Lorde copycat.
Olivia Rodrigo might be the defining artist of the early 2020s. She sounds a little fresher than Billie Eilish, even if some songs off of Olivia Rodrigo's, 2021 debut album, "Sour" like "Driver's License" sound like they could come out in 2018.

Yeah, absolutely not. Electropop was a massive juggernaut on the charts the way bedroom pop really isn't right now. In fact it was so massive in the early '10s that R&B artists like Usher, Chris Brown and Rihanna had to change genres completely in order to keep any type of chart presence. I don't think that was ever the case with bedroom pop.

Electropop is similar to disco in that it was a huge dance pop sub-genre that a bunch of musicians tried to cash in
The difference is that Electropop didn't die as quick as Disco did
Bedroom pop.... What even is bedroom pop, back in 2018-19 when people said "bedroom pop" they meant indie-wannabe clairo ripoffs
Now it's synonymous with Billie Eillish and fucking olivia rodrigo? A disney chick?

The difference is that Electropop didn't die as quick as Disco did It took until 1982 for disco to fully die out on the charts though. If the electropop era started in 2008 and fully died out by 2014, then disco outlasted it, since 1974-1981 is longer than 2008-2013.

Bedroom pop is more of a late 2010s thing. Pop music is moving more into a brighter, upbeat direction. Yep, bedroom pop is pretty much a relic of the moody late 2010s at this point. Retro-pop is reigning supreme on the charts now.

I associate Bedroom pop with acts like Clairo, Rex Orange County, Girl In Red, mxmtoon, and Benee. Definitely more of an underground movement in 2018-2020.

I always thought Bedroom Pop was more of a late 10s thing. Very 2018-2020. In the early 10s, almost every other hit song was an electropop song. I can’t really think of any huge bedroom pop hits

I would say the biggest hit from that era was Supalonely. Harry Styles 2019/2020 songs and Circles by Post Malone might be influenced by that sound I think.
