It started feeling dated around 2012-2014, I remember getting frustrated when PCs at libraries, school, and people's houses would have XP since it felt dated and the computers running were kinda slow. This may shock u but one of the hospitals in California used Windows Xp up until 2014 My former PreK-8 school used Windows XP on CRT monitors until early 2014 when I was in sixth grade. Same with my local library except they at least had flat panel monitors.

take a time machine to late 06 and try using Vista on a Dell or HP system, and let me know how u feel I know Vista ran like dog crap on older systems but I just have a lot of nostalgia for it aesthetically.

It was super jarring seeing Vista in a store in 06-early 07, we were all so used to XP and now this is what replaces it ? It was strange, and I think those demo units were rigged up to work lol

My family has a desktop with XP I continued to occasionally use until 2018 maybe? It had been getting slow and crashing but I just couldn't let it go

XP was such a step up from that piece of sh*t Windows ME, I never installed a new OS so fast I went from 95 to XP and it felt legitimately futuristic. And then I think it took a while to seem dated. It’s quite telling that you couldn’t get away with using Windows 98/ME in the mid 2000s, but many people still used Windows XP in the early 2010s, and nobody thought it was weird. Only by about 2013 did XP finally start to seem dated to most people.
