Let's just say that 2002 is a post-Y2K/pre-core 00s year entirely. Very strange year indeed. With more Y2K holdovers/vibes/connections than 03 and 04.

Music in 2002 was not y2k anymore some movies were filmed in 2001 tho so they can't help it Music in 00-01 wasn’t even fully Y2k. It was already officially early 2000s before September 11. Still lots of Y2K vibes, holdovers and connections in 2002 compared to 03 and 04, probably more in movies, fashion, certain aspects of gaming, general aesthetics but still there in music.

Personally I think 2001 and 2002 should not be separated. 9/11 had no effect on music or fashion. Some movies had shots of the Twin Towers that were removed in the final cut, and few shows tried to avoid topics of terorrism, but that was the full extent of 9/11's effect on pop culture, which didn't last. Music, fashion, movies, T.V. shows from 2002 were almost identical to 2001. Sure the political atmosphere had changed after 9/11, but pop culture was basically the same.

Y2K was at its very peak in late 1999/early 2000. The era was already starting to gradually decline well before 9/11, and it's lingering influence lasted well afterwards.

There was lingering Y2K influences throughout the year and even up to 2003. 2001 and 2002 were almost identical from a pop cultural standpoint. It's not like there was some sudden decline in the Y2K aesthetic between 2001 and 2002.
