Any announcements or forum news will be posted here by Popedia staff. On the topic of Popedia staff, I am open to offering moderating roles to members, depending on if/when more people start to contribute to the forums. It all depends on people creating accounts on Popedia.

Sometime within the next week or two, the URL will be changing. It will be changed to popedia.org. I'll let you know in advance about any further details in regards to the change.

Have added a "poke" feature to member profiles. It is similar to Facebook pokes.

I've inquired about the issue with opening certain threads/topics from the homepage as well. I have asked the admin staff of proboards.com to see what they can suggest about fixing it.

I'm going to be making a few changes to the "TV Lounge" section. All of the existing boards will become apart of one "Australia & New Zealand" board. The existing boards won't change at all. The reason for this change, is too make the forum look less "cluttered" and to appeal more to people from other countries.

There is now a "Halloween" theme available for everyone to use.

I have given everyone who goes on this forum regularly a "badge", just as a thank you for visiting and contributing to Popedia on a regular basis. I really appreciate it.

This may not be a good idea, but i'm thinking about setting the forum to "guests must login" only. That means that people who lurk this forum (but do not have an account) will have to sign-in to access the forum itself. This won't affect anyone who has an account already.
The reason for doing this is because the forum is visited by the exact same people several times a day, however they do not have an account. Popedia has had 52 guests visit the forum within the past 24 hours. I know that they don't have to post/create an account if they don't want to, but by requiring them to sign-in to an account, it may inspire them to become involved with the forum itself.
Either way, it will only be a trial. As I said, it won't affect anyone who has an account already.

I don't think that's a good idea, people need to see to believe. So rather than outright deny access to the forum for guests {Which is what I think you are suggesting} try making it so that certain forums are disabled from viewing, and have a big bright message that there is more to see if only you sign up.
But even that I would use with caution.
You might see a short term increase in membership if you go the route you suggest but I doubt it will work out in the long run.
Also there's the matter of search engine finding posts on your website, if you turn it to members only then the search engine can't find any of the pages of your website.

That's a good point and I completely agree with you. I actually only disabled the access for guests for a couple of hours, before I changed my mind and realised that it wouldn't have benefited the forum in any way. There are a lot of guests who visit this forum and I was hoping that doing something like that might encourage them to actually join. However, it hasn't transpired into anything and i'm starting to think that those guests are not going to join this forum, regardless.

When you logged online, you may have noticed a small pop-up asking you to save changes to your profile. I have managed to fix the "user theme display" plug-in issue, however as a result of that, it needs to update the statistics (resulting in the pop-up). I apologise for the inconvenience.

There are just five days left until voting for the 2017 Popedia Awards closes. If you haven't voted already, you still have time to submit your response.

In case you were wondering, the new member "TwilightPrince16" deleted himself (and his posts) from the forum. He previously had an account on Popedia under the username, "WiiFan". I plan on banning him from accessing the forum. As far as I'm concerned, if he was really interested in being here, he wouldn't create/delete accounts on a regular basis. He does it on other forums as well. I'm very curious as to why he does it? Can't you change your username without making multiple accounts?
