A thread to share your nostalgia for the Late 1990s. Even though I was born in 1999, I do have nostalgia for some aspects of Late '90s pop culture (namely the music). A lot of Late '90s songs were still on heavy rotation on radio stations back in the Early 2000s and I can remember listening to a few of them, when I was 3/4 years old. There are quite a few Late '90s songs which bring back memories for me. Some of them are: ^ I can vividly remember listening to this on i98fm in the car back in 2003, when I was 4 years old. ^ I remember I went to a work party with my Mum when I was 4 and this song was played on the dancefloor. The funny thing is, I hated it, even back then.

Another song from the Late '90s which makes me somewhat nostalgic. I was actually just about to post this aswell! This song often makes me nostalgic when I hear it, I think it's because it was still played regularly in my area during the early 2000s.

I’ve kinda strayed from the topic a little, but some of mine are from the early 2000s as well. These are very nostalgic for me. First off, “Graduation” by Vitamin C is definitely a nostalgic song. This was played at my Grade 6 graduation and I still remember it so vividly after all these years! These are some others of mine:

If I was old enough to have properly experienced the Late '90s, I would probably feel nostalgic for those songs as well. They're really a product of their time.

I know that Nikki Webster performed a song at the Opening Ceremony (the exact name of which escapes me right now, but it was a slower paced one compared to the the "bubblegum pop" track that was Strawberry Kisses which I think came out in Late 2000 or Early 2001), but didn't Vanessa Amorosi perform "Absolutely Everybody" (as EyewitnessTV posted above) at either the Opening or Closing Ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics?
Side note: For some reason, I get the impression that the first year or so of each decade still has many pop culture elements of the last one and that it usually takes until the year that ends with a 2 (eg, 1982, 1992, 2002, 2012) for a decade to properly define itself culturally...if that makes sense.

It might have been this song? I did a quick Google search and apparently the single of "We'll Be One" was released in October 2000, shortly after the Sydney 2000 Olympics concluded. It's amazing to think that Nikki Webster was just 13 years old at the time, yet she performed the song in front of millions of people worldwide. Also, you're right about Vanessa Amorosi. She performed "Absolutely Everybody" at the Closing Ceremony. Yep, that's generally the case. Even though, I think the 2000s culturally defined itself pretty early on. Shows such as Malcolm in the Middle, McLeods Daughters, Backyard Blitz and Law & Order: SVU were already on the air prior to 2002. Music generally lent more towards the 2000s as well, since bands/artists such as Blink-182, P!nk and Nickelback either emerged or were already popular at the time. I don't really know what it was like at first-hand though. 2001 is the first year I can remember, however I can only remember a few vague things from that year.

Well this is not a childhood photo, but this is exactly how I remember my first time in a plane which was back in 1999 as a 2-year old, as I was sitting in a left aisle seat at the time before I became obsessed with window seats as a 5-year old, and I was in economy, not first or business class.
