Thanks to the anti-vaxxers, Covid isn't over after all and we're probably going to have to spend at least another year in lockdown if not more. Issue is, there's no longer that white savior on a horse that is a vaccine that will bring us to herd immunity. We're going to be in this for the long hall, either until there's an effective treatment or a less lethal variant becomes dominant.
I'm a pessimist, but I've never been as pessimistic about the future as I am right now.
My biggest regret is taking the 2010s for granted.

My country is only now at 50% of the population vaccinated (first dose (thanks to bolsonaro) so it will take longer for things to go back to normal. My biggest hope is that the pandemic ends sometime around 2022. Btw, is anyone's mind blown by the fact that we're closer to 2022 than to 2020? time flies

I don't even know anymore, considering now that there's a Delta Plus variant. The early 2020s are gonna suck with COVID still raging around the world, but I'm sure people in the future will (somehow) find nostalgia for the good things that happened. They always do.

See this is the problem. If we continue to live in fear of this pandemic it will only continue longer than expected. I am certain this pandemic will get better as long as people are following the guidelines and knowing what’s best for their safety.

This is the worst era I've ever lived through and is like being in prison. Every moment is pure agony. I'd give anything to have the 2010s back. What really sucks is nobody knows how long this will last. I think realistically we're probably going to have to hunker down at least a couple more years. We're likely going to have to wait for the 2030s to have a fully functioning economy/society again. With climate change, I don't know if we'll make it. It also sucks this has pretty much doomed me to be single until my 40s.

As long as people do not wear masks, do not get vaccinated and do not social distance, then life will NEVER return to normal. I swear people are in a rush to go back to life pre-COVID and it irritates me. Because of dumb ass idiots who do not use common sense, the people who take precautions are the ones to suffer and die. I had hope in spring and early summer 2021, but since mid summer 2021, I lost hope. People who act dumb and get COVID, should just be left to die and rot. They can go fuck themselves for all I care. On the news, I saw more demonstrations of people burning masks. Children who do not get vaccinated should not be allowed on school grounds. If they get held back, then that is their stupid parents’ faults.

This feels like a nightmare. I am tired of hearing the news media saying the symptoms of covid over and over again. As someone who had covid in the winter season of 2020, it is traumatizing and triggering. When I had covid, everything was fading in & out, I almost passed out & died, and I felt like I was in Antarctica even though I had the heat turned on on in my house & I had a cover over me. I am tired of this gloomy atmosphere the world has had since the covid pandemic happened. I want everything to be like it was before this pandemic happened again so bad and, most importantly, I want people to start taking the anti-covid safety precautions that have been put in place seriously so the world can get back to normal again.

I don't care if it's somehow "unconstitutional" when you're saving lives

I expect 2022 to be a continuation of 2021. COVID will still be around in 2022. Hopefully 2022 is better than 2021, even if slightly. I can see COVID disappearing around 2023 or 2024. Honestly, I don't have much hope for this entire decade at this point. Republicans are probably going to take congress in 2022 and it's likely Trump ends up back in power in 2025. The economy is currently in a full-fledged depression. Maybe in the late 2020s, boomer dominance will begin to fade and things will improve but at this point that seems like a pie in the sky wish. None of this would have happened if a few thousand people would have voted differently in 2016. The 2010s were likely the last hurrah of the world we grew up in. The future is an apocalyptic dystopia because even if the pandemic ever ends and even if the economy comes back, climate change is here. It's no longer a far off in the future boogeyman. It's here now and things are about to get catastrophic.

We need to get rid of all the climate-denying leaders. Trump pulled the US out off the Paris accord ffs (and -if elected- he'd probably do it again). We need to invest in green energy and nuclear energy... The climate-denying boomers (and gen x) will destroy our planet and ruin the future.

This may sound silly but at this point, I'm really wishing Facebook wouldn't have been invented. Facebook has given the boomer generation and specifically the fundamentalist Christian Right an extra couple of decades of dominance that they otherwise wouldn't have had. They are using this time to completely sabotage the futures of the subsequent generations.

Wanna show it to future generations Well, the most important thing here is that you're still here with us. And yeah, hopefully you do find that certificate for history's sake.
