The question here is: is emo-pop currently on a revival?

The question here is: is emo-pop currently on a revival? it already has, made several threads about it, the thing is when making a trend report there is a delay from when it is spoken vs when reality catches up. But according to the graph emo is more popular now than it was in 2008 (when it was waning )
Looks like above 2008 but below 2007, so emo pop is slightly below where it was in Spring 2007

I only missed some pop punk from 94-96, not even all of it then. I do miss pop-punk grungey hits like this the most:

No, it was oversaturated in the late 00s. I liked the bubblegum pop and eletronic music of the 10s.
I do love the current revival

Yeah I missed that edge early to mid 2000s pop punk and rock music had. We need that back. I enjoyed hearing that kind of music in stores along with R&B and rap. I think we really need a change of overall zeitgeist for that to happen. Blink 182-style music just doesn't fit with the current culture. As much as I hate bedroom pop, it fits our times.

We need a cultural reset. A lot of times I believe artists are trying to rehash Blink-182 music back for the sake of 2000s nostalgia since they are turning 2 decades old throughout the 2020s, not because it fits with our current culture. Bedroom pop and LoFi or chill-hop music suits our times because we are all stuck at home with almost no where to go thanks to COVID and dumb ass idiots who cannot follow simple mask and social-distancing guidelines. What I find strange is how those music genres got popular in the Trump era. What i find the most strange is how there weren't that many popular protest songs during the trump era...

When he was elected I thought there would be more. However, Trump is uniquely popular and his supporters are uniquely sensitive to criticism compared to say George W. Bush or Richard Nixon.

What i find the most strange is how there weren't that many popular protest songs during the trump era... Right. I remember starting in 2003 and lasting throughout the 2000s, many protest songs were made against Bush. The only protest song I can think of during the Trump era is “Fuck Donald Trump.” "This is america" is kind-off an anti-trump protest song, no? I know trump isn't mentioned but i doubt Childish Gambino would compose that song if Trump wasn't the president.

If Clinton was president, then Childish Gambino would not make that song.
