While we talked about certain songs being ahead or behind their time, I wanna talk about music videos that I think were visually ahead of the time. From the cinematography aspect, story telling, aesthetics etc...
Here's the MV's that I believe was ahead of its time.
Released: 1995 Looks like: 1997-1999
Released: 2002 Looks like: 2006 (Unlike her previous singles, this mv is so different and out of place for 2002).
Released: 2004 Looks like: 2007 (This video is dark. As John will say in other posts, "Dark and Digital").
Released: 2011 Looks like: Today (While the song itself is dated in 2021 standards, The MV wouldn't look out of place for 2021. Can't believe the song/mv is turning 10 years old).
Released: 2004 Looks like: 2010-11 (While the video was shot in SD, which was outdated by 2010, The visuals and the costumes were different, Early 2010s had Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry Teenage Dream era. Gwen was a trailblazer for these women).

Released : 1995 Looks like : 1998 - 2000
Released : 2006 Looks like : 2006 - 2008 ( heavy Fruitger Areo vibes)
Not much to be said tbh, most of the videos in 1997 would be the template for 98 and 2000

Released: 2011Looks like: Today(While the song itself is dated in 2021 standards, The MV wouldn't look out of place for 2021. Can't believe the song/mv is turning 10 years old). The thrift shop attires, the Tumblr lightenings, one of those ugly early Instagram-y filters, the super Millenial culture all the way throughout... Someone posted a few days ago how this is one of the most 2010s looking vids of 2011 and I agree. It certainly doesn't look or feel it belongs in 2021 Maybe 2015-16 at latest
