Does it mean the singers' sound, looks, attitude, vibe and style changes or either one of those things? Could it be a coming of age thing?
Michael Jackson released his "Bad" album in 1987 which was more edgier with rock and hard rock styles compared to his poppier 1982 debut. Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera abandoned their late 1990s teen pop, next door girl image around 2001 for a more raunchy, sexual style that was prominent throughout the 2000s. Miley Cyrus abandoned her "Hannah Montana" image with the release of her 2013 "Bangerz" album. She twerked on Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMA's. While I dislike 2013 as a year, I will admit that 2013's VMA's reminded me of the 2003 VMA's where Britney Spears kissed Madona.
Would you say Bilie Eilish is maturing or still the same as she was in 2019? I recall earlier this year, controversy happened with her wearing more revealing clothes.
Maybe I'm missing something. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Meh, if anything Billie Eillish has devolved with her lastest record.
By mature people either mean it literally (growing older and making more mature music) or figuratively (making "smart"/"artistic" music)

I guess you could say billie has matured with her latest album but only because it has less stupid lyrics (barely)
