Early 10s was a very optimistic, good vibes time although the pop culture was mostly shit. But I still like it because my life was great back then.

Wasn't really hollow, more like "mindless" which is fine considering the world's situation at that point.

I feel that the early 2010s (specifically 2010-Mid 2011), to be a self aware free era. The Very Early 2010s was very animated, similar to the 1989-1991 era, very cartoonish aesthetic and atmosphere wise. Late 2011 was when the culture were more realism and gritty (but in a forced kind of way).

The early 20s are the polar opposite in just about every way, except for the economy was bad during both but the "great" recession wasn't near as bad as the Trump depression. Other than that, take everything that's great about the early '10s and think of the absolute worst alternative and that's the early '20s.

The early 2010s strike me as putting on a facade of being happy when the Iraq War was still being fought until December 2011 and the Great Recession aftermath. They were my cringe middle school years, which I’m not fond of.

Soo much fun! I lived in Dubai during this time and the city actually captured the vibe pretty well, where we always went shopping whenever we felt bored, and then we'd listen to electropop hits on the radio when we drove from our home (Just don't get me started with Burj Khalifa lol)

While they were different, they really are barely that different from the mid 2010s ( it’s not good or bad) and to a lesser extent the rest of the 2010s minus politics, some micro degree of music differences, and tech upgrades. The sterile vibe was set at point in 2011, maybe even a bit earlier in 2010. It was really only late 09-early 11 that felt slightly distinct and not so uniform but those years were the building blocks of the core 2010s identity at the same time, not a different era imo . I don’t feel a year like 2011-2012 despite being different from 2013-2014, had any strong, massive or radical changes atmosphere wise despite some clear shifts/changes in 13-14.
It's not to say the 2010s are all the same, not there aren't distinctions and differences to be fair but if you objectively look early 2010s and today you will see there wasn't this radical transformation, its not good or bad, not every time time passes does it mean there needs to be big distinctions.
70-95 percent of the same clothes I would wear in 2011 maybe even 2010 I can see at the front on most stores despite some solid 2020s changes in fashion that stick out this year compared to 18-20. Stereotypical 2010s fashion still overpowers. Flannels, striped 90s shirts, vintage Christmas home knitted vintage sweaters with video game characters on them, skin tight shirts, khaki stretch pants, 80s movie or iconic character on a shirt, all still common fashion staples you would see even in late 2009 are still in most store fronts in malls during this christmas season.
I still feel the early 2010s share most of the the same basic culture, just slightly distinct and slightly less developed and with 00s holdovers, and with a different social and poltical climate. I can't say that about the mid to late 2000s.

Exactly. I don’t understand why people say 2013 was completely different from 2010 thru 2012. Mid 2013 through mid 2014 felt like the mid 2010s culturally, but it was not complete departure from the cultural early 2010s at the same time. 2013-2014 season felt connected to 2011, maybe late 2009 and 2010 to an extent. No wonder the 2010s feel consistent pop culturally. The eras blur a lot together. Yeah pretty much agree. I actually updated my posted lol. There is more there.

I can't say that about the mid to late 2000s. COVID and politics aside, people today don’t go about their lives differently than they did in the early 2010s. I went to the mall yesterday. Most of the clothes I saw in the stores would pass for a decade ago. Most new stores opening or that opened in the mall still sport 2010s designs with corny sayings as decorations. Unfortunately 2010s looks are still majority. I think the 2020s looks will become dominant by late 2022-early 2023.
