While humoristically dated, it does raise the point that people are pretty bad at predicting stuff like music and things can shift in very unexpected ways.

I don't think very many people in 2010 thought electropop would be as short-lived as it was. People were saying people like Owl City sounded futuristic and dreamy, which he did for the time but looking back, his music hasn't aged well. At the time, it seemed like the beginning of a new era in music in which electronic dance music would replace hip-hop as the dominant genre.
Just talking about this makes me really miss the world of 2010.
