Of course these never exact measurements or meant to be taken strictly, lol, just a general view...refined from previous which was a bit off: Imo: Pre 2010s: 2003:1-2% 2004:4% 2005:4% 2006:6% 2007:6% 2008-2009:8-12% 2010s: late 2009:65% 2010:80% 2011:93% 2012:95% 2013:97% 2014:98% 2015:100% 2016:99% 2017:99% 2018:97% 2019:96% 2020s: 2020:94% 2021:88-91% Bit of a sharp jump from 12% to 65% in 2009. Was it because of the end of the recession? Not entirely. The 2000s were the 2000s except for late 2009, which is when the identity came together, some small percent were things describing origins/shared roots etc prior to that, discussed earlier, just like any decade, earlier on. Just approximations, in general, you can't be exact, which is still fine tbh. There really wasn't this steady even or large build up tbh. Even 2008-2009 was a mostly 2000s year, if anything late 2007 to mid 2009 had the most starting points of things that peaked or became popular in the 2010s, this was described earlier. Transition was in the summer. The 2020s are nearly identical culturally as well at least to me, outside of Covid, 2021 a bit more changeful compared to 2020, but not fully there imo, but I know others feel the opposite.

Yeah, your rationale for the late 00s thing seems spot on. I don't get how people can actually say all of 09 was a full early 10s year(which happens a lot). Especially when it comes to music, like 80% of everything on the radio sounded like it could come out from 2006-2008 in the first half. People using the starting points of things in the 10s to say 09 was the start of the 10s also seems fallacious because it doesn't mean it was prominent in pop culture at the time. By that logic, I could say the 00s began in the mid 90s when the internet started being used by everyone or something to that effect. I agree that the 20s so far are very similar to the late 10s as well. It feels like a continuation of the political division of the 2010s even with COVID(if anything that has just added to it). TikTok is another cultural icon of the 20s but that is basically just Vine 2.0.

This board is filled with Decadeology. Discussion of past decades and nostaglia that is constructive and elaborate = not decadeology. Unnecessarily comparing two or more years without any basis for discussion = decadeology. this isn't the other site lol
