I chose 2006, especially since it was the year after Hurricane Katrina. Not a lot of crazy events during that year alone. Was the year boring? To a extent. Was it awful? Absolutely not. 2006 was a healing year.
I consider 2010, 2011, 2019 to be healing years too.

One of my favorite years honestly, especially with the rise of YouTube and 7th Gen consoles. It just had a chill and fun vibe.

I didn’t like 2021 either but it was still better than 2020, and so far has been better than 2022. The sad part is that it may end up as the best year of the early 2020s. I’d say healing years of the 21st century (I.e. the opposite of calm before the storm years) would be 2002, 2006, 2010, 2013, 2019, and 2021.

I would say 2003 for September 11 - First half of 2002 it was a fresh wound, a sensitive subject and there was a lot of anger and to some extent bigotry. Second half a bit better. Recession healing is hard to actually measure it was more gradual. Maybe 2011 2003 had the Iraq War though. I’d say 2002 is the calmest year of the early 2000s actually, but TBH that’s not saying much. The entire era was rather tumultuous.

Honestly 2006 and 2007 collectively I would say were generally quite calm. You did have Virginia Tech and the Britney Spears meltdown in 2007, but that was about it. 2008 is when things hit the shitter, and we wouldn't recover from that until 2010 at the earliest, if not 2011.

Contrast this with the early or mid 2000s when you had nu metal and emo respectively as major movements. Maybe that would explain it because in 2007, you had emo everywhere, and it was impacting pop culture, in contrast to 2008, when scene kids, who were more lighthearted and colorful, became the dominant subculture.
