The only thing objectively good about it was the calmer political situation. The economy was terrible. The fashion was corny. Social media culture was really trashy at the time. The music was soulless electronic ear-cancer, the games were mostly soulless FPS games that followed the brown/gray colour pallette from the late 2000s, the moviers are forgettable, CN added regular show but virtually everything else was meh. I could go on.
Still better than the rest of the 2010s though lmao.

To each their own.
It was the best time of my life and I'd give almost anything to have it back.
Take all of the negatives of the early 2010s, like the bad economy, and the early '20s is 10000000x worse.
I strongly preferred electropop to today's lo-fi, bedroom pop, and throwback songs.

Just because the early 20s situation is worse doesn't automatically make early 10s good imo.

Early 2010s were probably the best 2010s period to live in if you had to choose, just in terms social culture not being fully overrun by digital tech, liberal and more relaxed environment, SJW culture isn't really a thing yet , no new right, no hipster influence in everything even though it's close, and slightly less sterile and more genuine/interesting period in gaming and music/film. You could ignore the trashy social media culture, and some of the more tacky fashion and souless films and FPS games and still find some interests and interesting things, I don't feel like it was that restrictive personally.
The only negative thing is that a number of things either barely changed or expanded later on, depending on how you see it, it could be good or bad or annoying since we are at the end of that era and want to change. It was more liberal than the late 2000s and had slightly better tech, but it depends what you like more.

Completely. > social culture not being fully overrun by digital tech Smartphones were mainstream by 2012 >You could ignore the trashy social media culture, and some of the more tacky fashion and souless films and FPS games and still find some interests and interesting things, I don't feel like it was that restrictive personally. Well you can ignore pop culture of pretty much any era where there is widespread internet. But the pop culture of the early 2010s was bad so you had to tune out if you wanted to consume quality entertainment like in the other eras of the 2010s. > slightly less sterile and more genuine/interesting period in gaming and music/film. Gaming was definitely sterile back then. The FPS and brown/gray colour trend of the late 00s carried over, nothing interesting was produced by devs and next gen consoles didn't come until nearly halfway through the decade. Music felt sterile too. It was basically electropop from the very late 00s but even more electronic influenced and soulless whereas at least in the 00s there were timbaland influenced drum beats and pop rock influences in some electropop songs and it was fresh. This trend lasted like 5 years so it felt very sterile in 2012-2013.

I'm talking tech all around also. Again it was just slightly less annoying than today and a bit more balanced, it wasn't like the 2000s, so it gets points for that. Having TVs other than LED TVs, rental stores being a thing, dvds/blu-ray as standard options, slower internet, streaming not in full swing, less social media channels.. all adds up.

Even without the internet you can find alternatives/alternatives existed tbh. Within the mainstream you had some degree of interesting culture at least to me being put out. Indie and retro games were bigger than the late 2000s, youtube had a less corporate and less censored environment, culture wasn't at tightly pc, it was exciting to collect the nes and it was more popular, geek culture was in the midst of getting cringe but not as corporate as later, you had really quality indie games like super meat boy, flappy bird and shovel knight were pretty good for the time. It was refreshing the way 90s influence started slowing coming back in graphics, fashion and franchises, films like hangover series, avatar, dark knight returns were pretty good. Lots of sterile crap for sure but some decent stuff in the mix to put it bluntly. > slightly less sterile and more genuine/interesting period in gaming and music/film. I prefer Wii/PS3 games outside of the typical FPS and generic games from that era, many of which feel closer to the late 2000s, and a lot of it seems more interesting than titles from latter 2010s, I think the nintendo games hold up well. There was some interesting post brit pop ex artic monkeys and post-hardcore/metal music still in the rock alternative mainstream even if a lot of it sucked and sterile indie rock and hipster music was taking over. Rock music and subcultures felt a bit more vaguely connected to the 2000s and somewhat hanging at least in late 2009-2011 which isn't saying much but at least its better than nothing. Most of the pop/rap stuff then wasn't my thing, I was never a fan of it.

oh god I hated that Brown/Grey color trend that even Sonic 2006 used lol The colors of games in 2006-2008 were very muted for some reason lmao.

CRTs were completely dead after 2009, 2010 at most. I replaced my CRT with a mini LED tv in 2008. Sure there are like the 2% that still use CRTs but it's safe to say it was dead in the early 10s. Rental stores were still there but no one used it. Blockbuster shutting down in 2013 was just the official closure. Slower internet? ? ? Why is that a good thing? You have a point about there being less social media.

They were a mixed bag for me since I was in my early teens, but I don't believe the early 2010s were 'bad' as such. There's a lot to like about them (especially compared to now).
