^^^ The beat drops were fine in 2016 when the Chainsmokers popularized them, but at this point, saying they have jumped the shark is an understatement. They quickly became a crutch for lazy musicians and DJs. There were a lot of them before "Closer" released as well.

These songs sound trashy to you? If anything, 10s EDM was wayy more sophisticated than 00s and 90s EDM 90s EDM, in particular, was fucking corny Very trashy. It feels like earrape with the sharp and loud synths. Especially the cringe beat drops that happen in pretty much every 2010s EDM hit. So that means you personally hate beat drops in EDM, not that 2010s EDM is trashy You think something is objectively bad just because you don't like it? You get to decide what is good and what is bad? No, you really don't.

But most 2010s EDM comes with a beat drop. >You think something is objectively bad just because you don't like it? >You get to decide what is good and what is bad?

The sound should go back to how it was in the early 2000s and before. Something about 2010s EDM feels so trashy, like the audial equivalent of eating junk food. These songs sound trashy to you? If anything, 10s EDM was wayy more sophisticated than 00s and 90s EDM 90s EDM, in particular, was fucking corny exactly, there's good and bad to every genre. Can't generalize. People do this with trap and hip hop too. There was a whole thread about "Trap is finally dead" here a couple months ago, and look at the charts right now.

I actually see electronic music having a big backlash this decade and being replaced with rock and punk as the popular sound. I feel like we'll go back to more raw instruments and away from electronica this decade (just in time for 2000s nostalgia as well since the 2000s were the last time popular music had real instruments still and a rock sound). Then in the 2030s electronic music will come back with a very, very different sound.
