to be honest with you even early 2009 felt kind of removed from late 2006, the energy in the air felt different, it just didn't feel the same at all. Not even talking about tv shows or music but like the atmosphere. It was a dead zone feeling.

Not even talking about tv shows or music but like the atmosphere. It was a dead zone feeling. It felt a lot darker than late 2006 personally but still felt closer to then than 2011 imo.

2011 imo. MySpace, rock music, among other things were still popular and relevant in late 2006. Bush was president and there was no Recession and the iPhone wasn't even a thing then. Electopop was still yet to be

2011 imo. MySpace, rock music, among other things were still popular and relevant in late 2006. Bush was president and there was no Recession and the iPhone wasn't even a thing then. Electopop was still yet to be as popular as it was in 09 >MySpace, rock music, among other things were still popular and relevant in late 2006. They were still popular in Q1 2009. Iphone was still far from mainstream as well.

Myspace was indeed still popular in 2009 but it had lost a lot of that energy that was there in 2004-2007, with traffic of the site decreasing at an alarming rate in Q3 and Q4. It just was not the same vibe with this website as it was in 2006, in 2006 you saw it being quoted in tv shows and songs, in 2009 that mostly went to Facebook. Also the design of Myspace changed in 2008 and 2009 not dramatically but it did look little more different. The site was no longer the hot topic of discussion anymore. Myspace just didn't feel the same in 2009 as it did in 2004 and 2005

Kinda both but leans closer to Q4 2006 because genuine rock music was still being played, MySpace was mainstream but not like it was in 2006. However, MySpace was totally dead by 2011. Many people still wore 2000s clothing aesthetics in Q4 2009, 2010s clothing was unknown at this point.

The thing is just because there are some things left around does not mean it feels the same lol For example in 1999 you still had people out of date wearing flannel here and there, you still had Full House in reruns, still had MMPR season 1-3 in reruns on Fox Kids ( Power Playback) but that does not mean it was part of the zeitgeist anymore. Even stores that were still around in early 2009 such as KB toys and Circuit City, they fell off massively in the late 2000s. 2009 felt vastly different than 2003,2004,2005 and 2006, there is no way to really shoe horn this year in, sometimes a year can feel a little bit of both eras. 2009 can not be shoe horned in at all, well not unless you are trying to lump 2009 with the "2000s experience" which it does not fit at all. It's kind of like saying did 1930s feel like 1980's or 2001 ? Like these kind of topics can veer of in any direction because of how directionless they can become. Does my smoothie shake taste more like Red Bull or a milk shake ? Does my car looks more like a 747 plane or a Ford ? Is Atari closer to Game boy or NES. It just becomes ridiculous at some point.

From what I recall the first quarter of 2009 didn't feel drastically different from recent years.
