1987-1988: A mediocre late 80s period that can’t decide between mid 80s and late 80s, until around mid 88, hasn’t established enough distinct late 80s and or that much of any incoming 90s culture, kid culture is mix between mid and late, and gets improved in late 88-89
Winter 1993/start of 94 - A good portion but not all of late 80s/early 90s culture is on its last legs or is dated. starting to feel dated mid 90s culture hasn’t entirely come full circle yet.
First half of 1997 - Lots of latter mid 90s culture is on life support or fading, lots of new late 90s changes are there but don’t feel drastic enough.
Summer 1998 - Atmosphere of 1997 with increasing incoming culture of 1999 but nothing enough to make it stick out. Peak boring 90s.
Late 1999-early 2000: The Y2K mythology gets shattered and utterly sucks due excitement being over and feeling bland. The cheery vibes and some of classic 90s holdovers in first half of 99 ex. summer, are less or gone , and there hints/aspects of the 2000-2001 school year there.
2000-2001: Peak fake and watered down version of years prior with elements of early 2000s but not there yet.
2003-2004: The most watered down early 2000s year not enough mid 2000s culture.
2006-2007: Mid 2000s aren’t over and late 2000s aren’t complete enough.
2009: Peak boring 2000s and end of the era.
2010-2012: Weren’t as exciting as they are made out to be, felt like slow modifications of late 2009.
2015: Fakest 2010s year.
2018-2019: Cut down of core culture and some changes but not enough new.
2019-early 2020: A repeat nothing burger of the previous with even less core culture.
Most of 2020 to early 2022: A repeat nothing burger of the previous years with Covid but minor aesthetic and decade pop cultural identity changes across late 20 to late 21, but peak boring, and enough dynamics to keep culture less innovative and frozen until proven otherwise.
