2019 isn't a core 2010s year in any way. You could even argue it's an early '20s year since the Coronavirus was around (that's why it's called Covid-19, for 2019) and new decade artists like Billie Eilish started popping up, music started to shift and trends started to move away and in the complete opposite direction from the 2010s. New shows like The Mandolorean launched, new streaming platforms, Tik Tok started exploding, etc. I think there were even more changes I just can't think of them at this moment.
I thin 2019 was the pop culture transition while 2020 was the lifestyle transition. 2020 completed the transition into the new Covid world of the 2020s decade.

2019 is more like 2021-2022 than 2016-2017 pop-culturally speaking. I wouldn't call 2019 a cultural early 2020s year; but at the same time, 2019 was the start of a lot of today's pop culture. IMO 2019 was a unique year with its own special vibe. 2019 felt similar to Q4 2018 and Q1 2020, both at a push. 2019 seemed to be setting up a culture that never happened because of COVID blowing up in March 2020. I think of 2019 as what the early 2020s could've been if not for COVID.

2019 was arguably the first year to have noticeable early 2020’s influences, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it an early 2020’s year.

If we’re talking strictly pop culture then 2019 has a little more in common with today than 2016 IMO. And I think you could argue the transition started in late 2018 because that was when I started noticing Airpods and first heard of TikTok (even though it wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now)

People here realize, theres been countless threads made about this lol, I have always said that 2019 was going to be a year you have to pinch zoom out to really get what the hell really went on. I agree with your points your made. 2019 did have this newness effect.

although 2019 is still connected to today, it’s definitely a late 2010s year more than anything

2019 is like 70% late 10s 30% early 20s. You have to remember that although it brang closure to lots of 10s stuff like avengers and game of thrones, they were still having their last entry in that year. And on top of that the big C and everything revolving around it such as lockdowns weren't present that year. I mean at a very big stretch you could say it was a thing in one country in the last month of the year but that's about it. It wasn't recognised by WHO until the very last day of the year.

Right, I've see so many people trying to say that covid was a mainstream thing in 2019, IT WASN'T 99.9% of people didn't know about it until January 2020

It wasn't even recognized by WHO until the literal last day of that year.

I thought we were all in agreement on that but i’ve heard some people in real life say that we’ve been dealing with covid since 2019. They think because the disease is called Covid-19, that it all started in 2019. I view covid as exclusively 2020s since Chinas government did not announce the disease until the last day of 2019 and virtually no one outside of Wuhan knew about it until early 2020 when it really started to spread. We didn’t even have a name for it until early 2020, and plus the pandemic wasn't declared until march 11, 2020 (2 years ago today) If you mentioned covid to anyone in the world outside of wuhan at any point in 2019 no one would know what you’re talking about

It was technically there at the tail end of 2019 but was just a glimpse of what would happen the year after.
