2004 - The early part was when 1990s shows began their death throes, officially dying by that May or June. The first half was the last gasp of a pre social media and Web 1.0 Internet. The early 2000s culture was dying, while mid 2000s culture was forming. The second half was the dawn of early social media and Web 2.0 Internet. By the late part, all 1990s shows were gone and 2000s shows entered their peak. Mid 2000s culture was born.
2019 - The early part was when core 2010s shows began their death throes, officially dying by that May or June. The mid 2010s fashion and hair, hipster or yuccie looks were so passé and lame at the time. They were fading, but still around, even today to some extent unfortunately. AirPods and TikTok blew up by that spring. 2019 was the last gasp of a pre-COVID world. E-Boy and E-Girl looks became established by that fall I think.

E-Boy and E-Girl looks became established by that fall I think. 2001 - First 7 1/2 months DEAD Last 5 months ALIVE for obvious reasons, The first half of this year with Teen pop and stupid y2k fads got on my nerves so much,once we got to the Summer things started transitioning out of the y2k era and into a more adult and more EXCITING pop culture era. And this was before 9/11 even hit, the calling card that drove it home was the 2001 VMAS, it seemed that was the alarm that rang that signaled that the early 2000s were here to stay. 2004 - That first part of 2004 felt so long and drawn out, those 90s shows still on the air like Friends didn't help matters either, it really felt SUPER SUPER SUPER long, long in the tooth AF. The Fake mid 2000s were still in effect at this time. When we got to Summer things started easing up and like f*cking dominos Emo and Myspace exploded. Some of the best video games of all time with Halo 2 and GTA SA released as well. DSL exploded as well. Things just started clicking in the right order.

I wanted to put 2001 and had somewhat of an idea on how to describe it, but I wasn't sure if I'd have the right words. You hit the nail on the head with both of those years. I recall trying Dominos sometime in 2004, but then my mom decided never again as we didn't like their pizza.

Summer 2001 felt slow to me, but that can also be because I was a toddler or a child. I can definitely see that summer 2001 was a transition. I watched one of the music countdown videos from summer 2001 which looked weird and contrasty with teen pop still lingering and urban pop coming to be. I guess I could almost say the same about summer 2004. I watched a billboard music countdown video from summer 2004, which also looked weird and contrasty with early 2000s styled music still lingering, but the mid 2000s music identity was becoming noticeable. def, it was like very contrasting that summer as far as 2004, there were a TON of 1 hit wonders ( this video was on the radio 24/7 from December 03 to like May 04 lol )

2016 wasn't per se dead feeling pop culturally, but definitely very bland and almost ashamed of existing. I was so tired of that vibe already.
