I know this seems like a strange idea for a thread, but it's only natural that we have varying opinions of journalists/presenters and I thought it would be an interesting topic of discussion. Who are journalists/presenters that you personally dislike? Australia:* Sam Hunt * Mike ____ (the sports presenter of Nine News Illawarra/ACT. Not a fan of his presenting). * Karl Stefanovic ('nough said) * David Kochie * Peter FitzSimmons (Lisa Wilkinson's husband, known for wearing a red bandanna. I'm sorry, but he's a complete idiot who's rude and likes to talk over everyone). * Neil Breen * Brad Fittler * Robert Ovadia * Sam Newman America:* Jimmy Fallon (Mainly because of how overrated he is. I don't think he's even funny). * The hosts of this show. Unintelligent jerks.

Just out of curiosity, why do you dislike Peter Stefanovic? I personally don't think he's too bad of a presenter, although I do believe his presenting has dropped in quality since he stopped being a foreign correspondent.

He often takes forever to finish the "banter" whenever he reads the news sometimes.

I agree with most of the names already suggested. Here's more I'd personally prefer to see less of on TV which I'm surprised haven't been mentioned yet. A bit of commentary has been added so it's a bit more than just a mindless list. *Samantha Armytage - Used to be a reasonable newsreader, but a terrible Sunrise co-host IMO. *Mark Ferguson - Might be an OK newsreader for a daytime bulletin or a rolling news channel. But a Sydney 6pm news bulletin? No, just no... *Andrew O'Keefe - I know a lot of people who like watching AOK on TV, but I'm personally not a fan of his. *Ben Fordham - Someone I'd associate more with 2GB and it's notoriously editorial broadcasting rather than Channel Nine, probably not a good thing when he does fill-in presenting on TV news bulletins (like he has for Nine Morning News in the past and Sydney's 6pm bulletin last Christmas/New Year). *Danny Weidler - the rugby league world's answer to Robert Ovadia, minus the presenting and inappropriate banter. *That rugby league reporter on Seven who has previously been described as being "a Danny Weidler-wannabe", Josh-someone I think his name is. *Amber "Jacket Lady" Sherlock - That now infamous leaked incident is all I associate with her these days. *Belinda Russell - I'm sure she's a nice person, but not a great news/weather presenter IMO. *Paul "Fatty" Vautin - probably should've retired 10 years ago, thankfully he'll be seen on TV less often next year! *Most (if not all) of the reporters on A Current Affair...for obvious reasons. *Tim Bailey - a very eccentric weather presenting style that might've been great for 1990s breakfast TV, but not Sydney TV news in 2017. *Andrew Bolt - self explanatory. *Paul Murray - likewise. *Mark Latham - ditto. In the "good reporters but please don't let them read news bulletins" category: *Chris Reason *Mark Burrows...and before you ask, yes there are presenters/reporters/journalists on TV that I rather enjoy watching but that's for another topic! * Mike ____ (the sports presenter of Nine News Illawarra/ACT. Not a fan of his presenting). Mike Lorigan - I remember him being a reporter for Prime7 Taree back in Early 2015, just one of the many reporters Prime7 (Local) News has had up there in recent times. From what I've seen, he's an OK sports presenter. Not Cameron Williams levels by any means, but not someone I particularly dislike watching on TV.

I will admit that his presenting was good over the 2013/14 holiday period on the morning/afternoon news, but it seems to also be happening to Amelia Adams too. She reads to fast (as of December 2014/January 2015) i liked her firm stern presenting style. here is a comparison Also presenters who i dislike. Natalia Cooper, Amanda Hart, Clint Stanaway, Amber Sherlock, Tom Steinfort, Tim Gilbert, Matthew Charmichael, Samantha Armytage.. you get the idea.

Yep, I generally agree with the examples you provided. The thing I dislike most about Andrew O' Keefe is his laugh. It sounds really forced and un-natural. That's right. I had completely forgot about his surname. On the Nine News Southern NSW bulletins, he is simply referred to as "Mike", so that didn't help matters!

I don't think it helps that some presenters are shuffled around to various roles. For instance, Amelia Adams has filled-in as a reporter, a newsreader on the Morning/Afternoon bulletins and as a presenter on Today. With having to adjust to different roles and work environments, it was always likely that her presenting style was going to change in some form. I think the same thing has happened to Peter Stefanovic. Ever since he returned to Australia and discontinued his role as a foreign correspondent, his presenting has become more informal and un-authoritative.

I agree. It's a shame Nine don't let presenters return to their previous roles and then adjusting to new routine and format effects there presenting. But i do think Amelia will probably de-crease her work load more soon with two small children and her husband is a on the road camera operator it doesn't seem possible. We will probably see Jayne Azzopardi shifted over soon to present. Again i think Nine will want consistency with there daytime bulletins to compete with Seven. Probably have Jayne presenting Mon-Thurs with Davina or Amelia on Friday (or possibly both becoming the 3rd inline Nine News Sydney presenter).

* The hosts of this show. Unintelligent jerks. TBH, I don't really like many US media personalities in general for some reason. I'd probably have to say that John Oliver & Jason Chatfield are among my favourite media-related people over there at the moment...and they're originally from the UK and Australia respectively! Anyway, here's a few people who I missed in the last list. Darren "Deer in the Headlights" Curtis - someone who really should stick to reporting. What does Nine Brisbane see in him as a newsreader? Rob Brough - I'm sure he was a great presenter of Family Feud years ago, but not a great newsreader of Seven's local bulletins in Regional Queensland IMO! That rather eccentric presenter on Southern Cross News in Tasmania who I think presents the weather on weekends/over Summer...Ken Saville I think his name is? From the clips I've seen he'd definitely give Tim Bailey a run for his money, that's for sure! Kyle Sandilands - Moronic d***head! Ray Hadley - Political opinions aside, he seems like someone who'd probably be quite rude or arrogant both on air and off. Alan Jones - Likewise. News Corp opinion columnists generally - Piers Ackerman, Miranda Devine, etc. To counterbalance talking about people we dislike, at some point I might do a Popedia thread where I talk about journalists, presenters and other people in the media I enjoy or have considerable respect for. That is, unless someone beats me to it of course!

TBH, I don't really like many US media personalities in general for some reason. I'd probably have to say that John Oliver & Jason Chatfield are among my favourite media-related people other there at the moment...and they're originally from the UK and Australia respectively! Neither do I, in all honesty. I'm not sure if you or anyone else has the same opinion as me, but my biggest concern with American media personalities (and American talk shows in general), is how they constantly talk over each other. In many cases, the special guests simply can't even get a word in, because someone else has interrupted and talked over the top of them. It's really frustrating. How hard is it to respectively listen to what the other person has to say and then voice your own opinion? Of course, that's not to suggest that it never happens on UK and Australian talk/panel shows. However, I've noticed that it seems to be more of a common trait on many American shows, in particular. I'm going to be completely honest, I find their accents to be a bit annoying as well. I don't have an issue with the accents themselves, just the way in which people speak on those type of shows. Many people who appear on US talk shows are loud and obnoxious. It sounds even worse if they have a really drawn-out accent as well. That's a good idea! I was actually thinking about creating one earlier, to be honest. Please feel free to create one, if you wish to!

Michael Cohn who is a columnist for the Toronto Star (left-leaning paper, second highest circulation in Canada at 320k a day). He shills for the Ontario Liberal Party (centre-left) like no other.
And Margaret Wente who writes for The Globe and Mail (centrist business paper, highest circulation in Canada at 380k a day). Always writes sensationalist nonsense, I bet Kim Kardashian would be more intellectually stimulating. She was also caught plagiarizing multiple times, and she's still somehow on the job.

I'm not familiar with Margaret Wente, but would I be right in assuming that she is a well-known media personality in Toronto? She must be receive quite a lot of attention in the public eye, otherwise you'd think that she would have been fired from her position at The Globe and Mail. If it had of been someone else, they most likely would have lost their job over plagiarising.

Only reason I know her is because I subscribed to G&M in 2013/2014. Never had to hear from her again since then, thankfully

In the "good reporters but please don't let them read news bulletins" category: *Chris Reason *Mark BurrowsI've just thought of this, but Vicky Jardim would be another excellent example of this. She is a reasonably good reporter, however her presenting is far from great. I don't think she's that popular. Unless you read that newspaper, you wouldn't hear about her. Only reason I know her is because I subscribed to G&M in 2013/2014. Never had to hear from her again since then, thankfully I didn't think she would be, however considering that she has plagiarised multiple times and has managed to maintain her position at The Globe & Mail, I wasn't sure if she was a well-known media personality or not.
