I think in the early 2010s, R&B was infused with electropop sounds. R&B then sounded like slow or downbeat electropop to me.
In the mid 2010s, R&B seemed to be infused with EDM sounds.
In the late 2010s, R&B incorporated trap sounds.
Now most R&B sounds melodic, uses guitars, pianos and processed instruments. All I can think of is “Say So” by Doja Cat.

Say So isn't really R&B, it's more of a nu-disco song like "Don't Start Now". 2020s R&B is influenced by the early 2000s, but still unique and influenced by guitary melodic rap:
2010s R&B was very synthy and had more background vocals:

R&B in the early 2010s:
R&B in the late 2010s:
Basically it went from upbeat electro-R&B to atmospheric alternative R&B.

10s R&B was all over the place, it didn't have a defining sound like 90s and 00s r&b i think
Love this song
