This is just for fun. What would decades look like in their alternate form?
New 80s = 1975-1984
New 90s = 1985-1994
New 2000s = 1995-2004
New 2010s = 2005-2014
New 2020s = 2015-2024

New 2000s would be looked at as a lot less changeful, new 2010s would be looked at as a lot more changeful. 2020s would have 2016 and 2020-2022 which is funny

New 80s is basically the rise and fall of disco, with its peak in the middle rather than the end of the decade. This would also be seen as the decade where computers first skyrocketed in use and where video games had a huge boom period then a total burst with the krash at the end.
New 90s is quite extreme in its ends pop culture-wise, while a bit watered down in the middle, with adult contemporary being the only genre surviving that decade. It's almost evenly split between pre- and post-Cold War and pre- and post-Internet.
New 2000s is basically the transition from 2D to 3D, whether it be video games or animated movies, neatly all in one decade. Also mobile phones go from being bulky and quite rare at the beginning, to being small and widespread at the end. And of course the middle years are all about all things futuristic millennium.
New 2010s is pretty evenly split between pre-smartphone and post-smartphone era. The internet changes quite a bit in this period too with many important sites launching at the beginning and fully dominating at the end. Music-wise, the middle years now would be quite distinct from the two ends.
New 2020s begins with choppy waves and ends in a tsunami.

This would be my guess on how each decade would be perceived in this timeline
New 80s: The rise of PCs, music-wise is associated with disco, new wave, and punk. Atari's golden age is mostly in this era. Arguably more consistent for movies than the real 80s beginning with the rise of blockbusters in Jaws, and concluding with Ghostbusters and Beverly Hills Cop. This era would thus consist of the entire Star original trilogy.
New 90s: from a gaming perspective, this would be more consistent than the real 90s, with this pretty much being the golden age of the 2D platformer. It begins with Super Mario, and ends with DKC. It would also tell the story of the fall of the Soviet Union and communism in general. Gen X culture in all forms is associated heavily with the era. It is a mostly rock-oriented era, starting with hair metal, moving into grunge, and ending with Cobain's death. This era now includes the entire Back to the Future trilogy.
New 2000s: Would be way more futuristic than the real 2000s. Web 1.0 dominates this era, and it would be associated with GeoCities and dial-up internet. In terms of gaming, rather than containing the 6th and 7th gen paired up together, it would contain the 5th and gen paired up together. The result is that instead of being an era associated primarily with open world crime games and first person shooters, it becomes associated with 3D platformers and JRPGs. Much like how the new 80s consists of the entire Star Wars original trilogy, this new era now includes the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy, as well as the entire original Matrix trilogy.
New 2010s: The golden age of Web 2.0 exists here. Early YouTube, emo culture, and Flash games would now be seen as either entirely or mostly 2010s things, which is crazy to me. The 2010s would be seen akin to the 70s as a terrible decade for the economy, but otherwise a carefree and fun era with lots of great pop culture. CGI really starts looking good in movies and video games. Call of Duty's prime now exists entirely within this era.
New 2020s: An absolute hellscape. political drama and COVID define this era, I guess a lot like the real 2020s so far, but it starts off with the rise of Donald Trump rather than the rise of COVID. If the 2020s turns much better during its latter half, this could be perceived as even worse.

The new 70s(1965-1974) would be moderately consistent.

Most people think of the 2000s as being either the era of Y2K, nu metal, and Bonzi Buddy (roughly 1998-2001), or the era of old YouTube, Club Penguin, and the Wii (roughly 2006-2010). 2002-2005 seems to have been mostly forgotten for some reason, despite being IMO the definitive 2000s era.
