Now that we are almost in 2018, I think we have enough of an idea to conclude which is the most definitive year of the 2010s. It remains to be seen as to whether we may witness the first signs of Early 2020s culture in 2018, however I believe we have already passed the "core years" of this decade. Which year would you consider to be the most definitive year of the 2010s and why?
I would personally view 2016 as the most definitive year of the 2010s. 2016 saw the election of Donald Trump, Pokemon GO, genres such as EDM, trap and indie were popular, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and social media sites such as Snapchat and Instagram.

I think 2015 may be a little more definitive just because uptempo electronic club music, definitive to the first half of the decade, was a little more prominent that year than 2016, yet all the later stuff representative of 2010s culture, like the alt-right, trap music, sexual assault debates, etc., still very much existed.

I agree. From an American perspective, I feel like the late 2010’s culture was starting when Trump won. 2014 felt like the last year with any speck of early 2010’s culture IMO.

I stated that 2015 would be the most memorable year of the 2010s for me, because I was 16 and it felt as though I was truly "living" in the 2010s. I do agree that 2015 is very definitive of the 2010s, however I believe the election of Donald Trump makes 2016 seem slightly more definitive.

2015 and 2016 are arguably equally as definitive, in my opinion. I think you could make a strong case for either year being the most definitive year of the 2010s.

I think 2016 was the most definitive year of the 2010s because of the 2016 U.S. Election, the YouTube drama, celebrity deaths, and the memes at the time. Also, ever since 2018 started, I've heard ironic jokes such as "it's like 2016 now!"

It's strange, overall I feel like the pop culture of 2015 is definitive of this decade but the crazy world and political events that occurred throughout 2016 made it feel more memorable and imo, the definitive year instead.

I'd say 2015. Before I thought it was 2014 since that felt close enough to 2016/2017 and it felt a lot more in tune with early 2010s than 2015 did, but by 2018 it's starting to feel removed since there wasn't any Trump or Brexit in sight.

When I think of the 2010's, the first year that pops up in my mind is 2016. I don't know, but I feel like 2016 was definitely 100% 2010's, and I also feel like apps like Snapchat and Instagram were at its peak then.

This is exactly how I feel. 2015 was definitely 2010's, but the craziness in 2016 and the 2010's trends did make 2016 more definitive IMO.

I would say 2015. Maybe it was because I was 16 at the time and right in the middle of my teens myself, but to me, it just feels as though it was the definitive, 'textbook' year of the 2010s.
