Blinding Lights doesn't make sense for the late 10s - early 20s transition since synthpop/throwback wasn't really big before the last 3 months of 2019 Late 10s to early 20s: Bad Guy is like a fake out transition song the same way Billie Eilish was a fake out superstar. It looked like she was all set up to be the next Britney Spears or Lady Gaga but Whisper Pop didn't take off(it's very niche in this era) and Billie Eilish became irrelevant after 2020. Blinding Lights on the other hand released in late 2019 but really blew up in Early 2020 which is all the more reason why that is the quintessential transition song. That song alone kickstarted Retro Pop dominance which definnes the Early 20s musically. It is also easily the most iconic song of this time period.

The Black Eyed Peas disappeared after 2011, so what's your point?

The Black Eyed Peas disappeared after 2011, so what's your point? The actual song I mentioned had a sound that was still popular until 2014 at least. Bad Guy doesn't sound like anything from the early 20s besides Billie Eilish other hits. Even death bed the other big whisper pop song sounds completely different and slower paced.

My list: Early 2000s to Mid 2000s: To me this is literally one of the most quintessentially mid 2000s songs there is. I like dudewithdausername’s suggestion better: Get Low by Lil Jon.

Also, I Gotta Feeling doesn’t feel late 2000s at all to me. It’s purely early 2010s in my view. Boom Boom Pow or even Poker Face seems more fitting to me.
