Some other huge monocultural games were CupHead (remember how fucking viral this game went?) And Doki Doki Literature club (this one holds a special place in my heart for how nostalgic it has become, a perfect snapshot of 2017).

VR chat went viral in 2019 too, but it wasn't as big as the aforementioned games.

I actually can't really remember any viral game from 2019, can anyone refresh my mind

People confuse something that's just merely "regular" popular with global crazes. There hasn't been anything on the scale of things like Pokemon Go or Fidget Spinners or Fortnite this decade. The YT views speaks for itself. On average music videos are literally like 10x less popular than they were a few years ago. Literally. You had so many songs which were well above 1B views in the late 10s and now an artist is lucky when they get over 100M.

OP also seems to forget that Youtube had a new system for views now ( which eliminates fake paid views)
