LOL @ your inaccurate revisionist history ^
Circus is not electropop. It is a Timbaland-inspired track. Womanizer would've been a better choice. Circus is indeed a Electropop song en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circus_(song)"This article is about the Britney Spears song. For other songs, see Circus (disambiguation).
"Circus" is a song by American singer Britney Spears. It was released on December 2, 2008, through Jive Records as the second single from her sixth studio album of the same name. Written by Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Benny Blanco, "Circus" is a metaphor for the public's perception of Spears' life. After she listened to the track for the first time, she felt inspired to create an album and a tour with a circus theme. "Circus" is an uptempo electropop and dance-pop song with elements of pop rock and "half-rapped" vocals. The song's lyrics talk about being an entertainer and putting on shows."

Summer 2011 was when it started feeling in your face 10s. When the lazy song by bruno mars got popular and iphones became common it felt like the 10s had truly began. That Lazy song by Bruno Mars was EVERYWHERE in the summer of 2011. I couldn't go somewhere without hearing that song on the radio lol. It for some reason felt transitional to me, but the summer of 2011 did feel pretty 10's. That summer felt a bit different from summer 2010 in the fact that it was just more unapologetically 10's than the previous year. It exudes early 10s energy.

I strongly disagree with the common fall 2008 - spring 2013 range. There's no way 2008 and 2013 can be considered part of the same era let alone 2009 - 2012. It didn't feel remotely like the 10s until summer 2009 and the 00s was basically dead in 2011 although it still had a few strong lingering holdovers that didn't die off until 2013. I disagree with this take overall as I pretty much see the electropop era as a whole just like the millennium era (which I span from like 1997/8-2003/4 at the widest), but I do agree that the transitional 50/50 period is no way 2008 or 2013, let alone 2012. And yes, I do think it's really a stretch to group 2008 in the same exact period as 2013 and even 2009 with 2012 besides Obama 1st term. 2011 was the final nail in the coffin of the 00's somewhere in that year, although since it does make to say the second half of safely 10's at that point, specifically the first half. 2010 was the last year that could truly be a potential 00's year culturally, at least from start to finish. Regardless of what I think about the span of the era, I definitely like this take. Nightmare is not telling the truth, there was a ton of electropop on the radio in the last 2 quarters of 2008, not as much as 2009 obv but there was a ton creeping in to the point where it was being blogged about often.

Guys, guys, guys. There was like two phases of electropop.
Phase 1 (or first wave) = 2008ish to 2009 (give or take late 2007-mid 2008 or late 2009/early 2010)
Phase 2 (or second wave) = 2010 to 2013ish (give or take late 2009/early 2010 or mid/late 2013-mid 2014)
Phase 2 is what most people associate with the electropop era. Although many would not add 2013 and definitely not 2014 in the list. 2007-2014 is just the broadest, most generous span for that era, same with 1997-2004 for Millennium.

Does not matter if it has Timbaland flavor ( Danja Timbaland's right hand man helped with her album) it's still electropop That song is way different from these. Circus sounds closer to Gimme More and 4 Minutes than these two songs from 2011.

Sorry Slim95 lol.

Late 2000s: example = Nickelodeon Commercials November 20082000s/2010s transitional period = Cartoon Network Commercials - March 26, 2010 Early 2010s: example = Disney Channel commercials from June 13, 2012 (part 1) You can see some commercials in the 2010 break are from 2009. Biggest hallmark of this era in terms of kid culture for me is that this was when the infamous “CN Real” shows like Destroy Build Destroy aired. Disney XD also began during this timeframe. I also heavily associate this time frame with Flash cartoons like Total Drama, Kick Buttowski, Kid vs Kat, Jimmy Two-Shoes, Spliced, and Stoked. You did have early 2010s shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show getting started here, but they didn’t truly become huge until the early 2010s proper (2011 & 2012). Phineas and Ferb was at the peak of its popularity in this era. I also associate this era with NigaHiga, since he was the most subscribed YouTuber during this time. When the early 2010s fully began, RayWilliamJohnson became the most subscribed YouTuber. Scene culture was still the biggest subculture in the youth rather than hipsters, as would be the case during the early-mid 2010s.
