Breaking Bad ran from 2008-2013. However it exploded in popularity around the time it ended in 2013 which led many people to pick up the show during the 10s.
Do you think this show is core 10s or not?

If it did not air new episodes in 2015 (the quintessential 2010s year IMO), it’s not core 2010s. Core 2010s to me would be like Rick and Morty, Steven Universe, Teen Titans Go, House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, and of course, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead.

IMO, a show is only core 2010s if it premiered in 2015 or prior, and it ended before the decade ended. Orange is the New Black is a great example of core 2010s. It premiered on Netflix, and it premiered in 2013.

They use flip phones through the whole show which kinda makes it feel more 2000s than anything. It exploded in popularity around 2010 or 2011 but still had more of a late 2000s vibe.

It really exploded late 2013. I checked the viewings on Wikipedia. The first 4 seasons have average viewings below 3-4 million viewers then the season 5 finale had like 13 million viewers or something.

That might be true but then again, you could say that about a lot of shows. It wasn't airing new episodes 2014-2016, which are the peak 2010s years. So no, it's not core 2010s, and dudewitdausername's point only further shows this

It set the tone for 2010s TV shows, alongside TWD and GOT soon afterwards

In my opinion, it is a 2010s show that really helped establish the zeitgeist, but it’s not in the same category as shows like House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, or even Game of Thrones.

It's late 2000s/early 2010s. Simple as that.
