That's fine. I'm not saying everyone is a fan of Rock music; I was just discussing that there are some who are fans of other genres while also it depends on one's Nationality, ethnicity, and upbringing as well.

I vote for the mid 2000s, there was so many cool Trance music coming out around that time, including Cascada which I adore. I think some people are being way too harsh for them, crucifying them quickly for Snap Rap, and unable to enjoy what other genres brought to the table which were as relevant. I for instance really enjoy the Timbaland-produced R&B sound around that time, especially for Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberland. That being said, the mid 2010s definitely lacked diversity which hurt them as a whole. I generally really liked 2015 despite what some people might think. The popularization of Tropical House and Alternative R&B that year brought some well-needed freshness to the pop scene at the time, which moved away from some annoying trends that plagued it previously. But besides that, 2014 was just a completely abysmal year for pop music, while 2016 was mostly poor and very forgettable, which puts the mid-2010s in a very unfavorable position .

I think our entire generation can agree that summer '16 was the best. Summer '16 had: "One Dance" "No Problem" "2 phones" “Broccoli” "Controlla" “My shit” “OOOUUU” “Money Longer” “Pick up the phone” "Needed me" "Starboy" “Panda” “Black Beatles” “All The Way Up” "Heathens" “Caroline” “Chill Bill” "Work" “Wicked” "Timmy turner" “X” “THat Part” "Too good" "Cold water" “Father stretch my hands pt 1” “No Limit” “Uber everywhere” "Never be like you"
So kuddos to 2016 and the mid 2010s!

I actually can’t believe that some Gen Z members prefer hip hop from 2006 over 2016. I’m not saying 2006 was awful for hip hop, but 2016 just sounded a lot more “mature” and “modern” like Erna said. They’re also a lot less cringe. Everyone I know in person prefers 2016 over 2006 in terms of music. But obviously, 90’s babies and older on forums like these will prefer 2006. But in person and even on Twitter it’s the opposite.

I'm pretty sure "Star Boy" was released very late into 2016 and certainly not in the summer. Also I'm sorry but that list is nowhere near as hot as summer 2015 and 2017 selections of songs were .

Yeah, they kind of exemplify why 2016 pop wasn't very good, mostly due to the shoddy and unnecessarily slowed down productions with "Dangerous Women", "Don't Let Me Down", "Closer", "Just Like Fire" and "PillowTalk" being some of the biggest offenders. "Love on the Brain" is a fantastic tho, too bad its release was half-assed and seems to have slept under of the radar of a lot of people.
