I didn’t care for a lot of music from 2005-2008. I wasn’t a fan of Ringtone rap, Emo, bland American Idol pop, or Nickelback knock offs (sometimes referred to as “butt rock”)

There will never be a year in music worse than 2018. I'm so glad we all decided to forget about that year. Even 2020 isn't as bad as 2018 for music (yet)

Can't believe some of you think 2012 was a bad year for music. Shame on you!

There will never be a year in music worse than 2018. I'm so glad we all decided to forget about that year. Even 2020 isn't as bad as 2018 for music (yet) 2018's first four months were filled up to the brim with excitingly fresh and great releases and projects coming out almost every week. 2018 is by far the best post-2015 year musically 2020 is in comparison an empty shell devoid of anything to gush over so far. This miserable year is musically lifeless and relentlessly boring.

To be fair, I've stopped listening. There are a few acts I like (George Ezra, Gavin James, Lewis Capaldi, Arcade Fire, Jack Savoretti) but I find most of it boring.

Honestly, to me, it is all the same. Music from the 50s sounds more relaxing than music from the late 70s-early 80s onwards. Nineteenth century music such as Beethoven and Mozart is where it is all at. 21st century songs though are just very distracting. I tend not to listen to music when I am in a stressful mood. I wonder how 2020 music will sound. Like any songs about coronavirus?

1980
1985
1999
2006
2015
Expanded version: Considering music that wasn't mainstream as well.
1960s: 1960-1963 (too boring)
1970s: 1975 (some good stuff but not enough stand out albums)
1980s: 1980, 1985 (a lot of stale music, other years seem be much richer )
1990s: 1998, 1999 (not everything but a big chunk, some 1997 included)
2000s: 2000,2001,2005,2006,2007 (could include more but then I'm just crapping on way too much)
2010s: late 2014/2015, 2018/2019-present (more, while a lot of that 2010s music was samey a lot of those years had music was somewhat okay or least a bit different for the time compared to similarly mass produced feel of 2000s pop)

There are no classics anymore and it hasn't been that way since 1989. Where are the songs of the calibre of 'Great Balls Of Fire', 'Hey Jude', 'House Of The Rising Sun', 'He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Dancing Queen', 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'The Living Years'? 'The Living Years' was the last true classic.
