1980s
👀
Now how’s that for a contrast!? 😂 And that’s the clean version. I don’t want to get in trouble here for posting dirty songs. 👀 even though there’s dirty songs going back to the 1950s and earlier known back then as “party records.”
BTW: 2 live crew kinda started a sub genre of hip hop in the early 90s with the Miami “booty bass” sound.

Man I love playing this game! Pair a cheesy early 70s tune with a late 70s new wave tune. Works every time!

1981 1989 I rewatched "The Fox and the Hound" not too long ago and it has that "old, wholesome with a dark twist" Disney feeling from the 1950s all over it, with even the voice acting and quality feeling particularly dated. Mindblowing to me that it came out in the same decade as the movie that launched the silly, wackier musical style of the Renaissance era.

I like both movies (obviously Mermaid more than F&H) but yeah you're right. I found it kinda sweet and cute, with a heartbreaking final scene.

If anyone's interested in why Disney movies changed so much in the 80's, I recommend the documentary "Waking Sleeping Beauty".
