I'm not a fan of aerial ping-pong, but I know that EyewitnessTV and @paul both follow the sport, so I decided to create a thread based on the upcoming season. Discuss matters relating to the 2018 AFL Season here.

Port Adelaide vs Geelong Grand Final and if it is I'm gonna play in the traffic. I predict it now - Collingwood v Richmond Grand Final 2018! I’ll post my ladder prediction for this year when I get a chance.

Richmond will do a Bulldogs and miss the 8.
Collingwood have a rubbish list, will miss the 8 for the 5th year in a row.

As for the Tigers, after changing my mind on several occasions, I’m expecting them to make the top 8 this coming season. As for whether they will go back-to-back? At this stage I’m going to say no. I reckon Adelaide will be thereabouts again (top-two finish potentially).

Not confident with Adelaide, the loss of Lever is going to hurt big time. Lower end of the 8 I think.

Western Bulldogs Richmond Essendon Collingwod Fremantle Brisbane Carlton St.Kilda North Melbourne Gold Coast

AFLX would have to be the most blatant ploy to hinder the success of another sports code.I hope the competition fails.

Yeh, I don’t really get the point of it really and I probably won’t bother watching it. Seems like the AFL is trying its hardest by going the way of cricket and having many different forms of the game. They should be very wary of this otherwise they could go the way of cricket and damage forms of the code also.

From what I understand, AFLX matches will be played on rectangular fields, rather than ovals. The AFL may wish to impact soccer's popularity, but the launch of AFLX isn't going to change anything.

Interesting. I doubt it will work. Apparently there will also be 10 players either side used with two 10 minute quarters split into those groups in the new AFLX. The AFL will also be running the second season of the AFLW and another preseason competition of the titled ”JLT Community Series”.

You think? It may have initial success but I’m not too sure if it will be sustained.

Even if it is a success, I don't think it will ever replicate the success of the AFL or even the other three major football codes in the country, in my opinion.
