That would be a great idea! One thing which I would like to see (even though I personally wouldn't watch it ) would be a State of Origin knock-out competition where every single state/territory is represented by a team and they all battle it out to reach the Grand Final. With the possible exceptions of the Northern Territory and the ACT, I think it would be pretty feasible. You would also increase interest in the sport in states such as Queensland and NSW, as the two states would barrack behind their teams and it would give them a reason to watch the sport. I think it would be a pretty interesting concept and it's a shame that the AFL hasn't considered starting it up. If done right, it could have a following similar to the BBL (state vs state type of following). There has been quite a bit of talk over the last few years about the possibility of it but nothing has come of it so far. I doubt the AFL has any interest (at least not in the foreseeable future anyways).

Very few I would imagine. I would be surprised if the AFLX competition is still running in a couple of years time. AFLX will soon be dead, but knowing the league they will just invent another format until something has relative success. It’s nothing new, they have had numerous competitions over the years!? Such as?

Such as? As in they have had various pre-season comp formats over the decades.... Before the ever so pointless format called AFLX and the relative newly named JLT Series, they used to have a ‘real’ pre-season competition format with prize money, a premiership cup and medals (this is when the pre-season hit-outs actually mattered somewhat to many supporters IMO). Since the competitive aspect of the pre-season was abandoned altogether back 2013 (which was replaced with a series of discrete practice matches spanning a three-to-four week period prior to the home-and-away season), the formats feature no rankings or overall winners these days.

Didn't mind AFLX, only downside was not really a team to support.
The concept will work if they do it the same as the BBL in cricket. 6 or 8 teams and state teams.
An Adelaide team (comprising Adelaide and Port Adelaide players) A Sydney team (Sydney and GWS) A Brisbane team (Brisbane and Gold Coast) Perth team (West Coast and Fremantle) Victoria (most likely 2 teams, split them into East and West or something) A Tasmanian team Maybe an Aboriginal team
Same format, run it over 9 or so days. 4 matches every night so it would go 7 rounds (play everyone once each) and then semi finals and final.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind that. Not that it will probably ever happen, but I think they should bring back an Origin series in coming years.

Congratulations on your Doggies victory this afternoon Qwerty. My tipping has been completely wrecked for the first couple of rounds, but it’s great to see the Dogs are playing so well in the early stages this year.

It's only round 2, but they are showing some great signs of really good football at the moment. I am attending the match next Sunday v Gold Coast at Docklands, excited for that!

They are showing some signs of their premiership run in 2016 at the minute. Hopefully that continues. I’d like to see a Pies v Dogs Grand Final this year. Pies to win, of course.

Poor performance from the Bulldogs this afternoon that I had the misfortune of being at the ground to witness! The scoreline makes it look better than it was!

Your stupid Doggies ruined yet another round for me. How can they possibly beat the Hawks yet lose to Gold Coast in Melbourne?! Very strange. You should’ve attended the previous match not this one.

Like most, I have no time for Ed either and it’s just unfortunate he’s the pres. Mind you, for the most part he’s done a bloody good job (in saying that I think he should’ve stepped aside a few years ).

Maybe you shouldn't follow the most hated team in the AFL, lol. I do agree though that he has generally done a good job at running the club. Collingwood won their first premiership in 20-years under Eddie's guidance, so that must count for something.

ROUND 4 5 Western Bulldogs (I MAY be going to this match) For your sake I hope you didn’t end up going along to this game! What a disappointment otherwise.

Unfortunately I did We had nothing else to do for Easter Sunday so we just went to the match. It was even worse than the Gold Coast match! The train trip into the city was the best part.
