Earlier today, I was thinking about how fast time passes and it made me realise that September 2018 will mark 17 years since 9/11 happened. I find that really hard to believe! Just out of interest, where were you on the day of 9/11 and do you remember what you were doing at the time of the tragic event?
I was 2 and a half years old at the time. This may come as a surprise, but I actually have a very vague memory of seeing the television coverage on the morning of the 12th September. I was sitting on the floor in the loungeroom, just scribbling into a drawing book which I had on the coffee table. Anyway, I happened to look up at the TV and I remember seeing footage of what had happened earlier in the day. It was Ten News' coverage and it had just returned from an ad break.
I think the main reason as to why I remember it, is due to seeing my Mum's reaction. She was on the phone to someone (years later, I found out that she was talking to my Dad) at the time and I can remember how shocked she was. Of course, with being so young, I had no idea what was going on or why my Mum was so shocked. As a result, I believe that's why I have been able to vaguely remember it.

I was fast asleep, considering it was around midnight NZ time and I was only 19 months old

Most likely at my parents' apartment, and both of my parents were arguing with each other when 9/11 happened.

I was in pre school I believe during 9/11, I stayed in school though so they didn't let us out early like other places. I do not remember anything on that day and I would think that's a good thing.
I remember in my college class we were talking about 9/11 and I asked will there be a time when things seemed peaceful before the event happened? Some of the older ones said no, but honestly I think over time we will get over this, especially when the majority of people around my age who don't even remember it get older. If anything we will be more strict in certain things, but I can see the country getting back to a relaxed state of mind again someday. Just not yet, 9/11 still is pretty recent history in the grand scheme of things.

I guess the Pre-school teachers may have thought, that all of you would have been too young to truly take in what was going on. I agree, although it depends on how terrorism evolves over the next few decades and how society handles the ongoing threat. Lone-wolf attacks have become the "norm" in recent years and if we don't take measures in preventing terrorism acts from occurring, we may never truly achieve the same level of peace as pre-9/11.

I was watching a movie on tape (but fell asleep halfway through it as it was getting late). However, I woke up just as the credits were rolling and then after that (something I usually never did by the way) I decided to switch on Southern Cross and then discovered the news unfolding. I woke my parents up not long after and we all watched it for a couple of hours before heading off to bed (because of an early start from memory), not that I slept for obvious reasons!

True people our age seem to at the highest have a vague memory like you, and even then that's probably not that common, especially since your from another country XD I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. I don't think terroism or at least this type of it will last any longer, I would hope so anyway.

I was in NC, but I was living in NYC during that time. I was suppose to start Kindergarten when 9/11 happen, but I didn't go to school yet because my family was scared.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow will mark 17 years since 9/11 happened. Even though I was only two years old at the time, it definitely doesn't seem like it was that long ago.
