I think it's kind of amazing how every single person here exists because we won the sperm race, out of all the other sperms that could've won. We are literally born winners.

This is something I've thought of on a number of occasions over the years. Has anyone ever considered how frightening it must have been for members of the public to drive at 100 km/h for the very first time? To us, 100 km/h is nothing and it's something we're accustomed to, but imagine how people back in the Early 20th Century must have felt doing land speeds in the triple figures. To travel at those speeds, as well as being in complete control of the car, must have been really daunting. There wasn't anything else comparable to travelling at those speeds prior to the introduction of cars. I know steam-engine powered trains can travel at similar speeds, but it's harder to maintain speed and you don't have control of the train carriages (not unless you're the train driver), so the experience is different. I know it's a pretty random thing to think about, but it's something I've thought about it since I was 11.

You know the common expression that "cockroaches would be the only living things to survive an atomic bomb?" Well, i'm starting to wonder if there is some merit behind that theory, because there's a cockroach that is still alive in my garage after going through surface spray three days ago. It has been stuck on it's back the whole time and it keeps on waving it's little legs around. I think I even ran over it accidentally when I drove my car into the garage this afternoon and even that didn't kill it. I kind of feel sorry for it in a way. Maybe I should put it out of it's misery?

Yes, I think you should (if you haven’t already). You can then bury it with dignity. It has died since I made my original post. I didn't kill it. It died of natural causes.

I've finally figured out how to scan photos from my photo albums onto my computer. As a result, i'm going to start replacing the poor-quality phone photos I have shared in the "Childhood Photos" thread with the scanned photos.

When I went through the drive-thru at Hungry Jack's half an hour ago, the girl (she would have only been about 15-16) at the window handed me my change and after she had done so, she asked me "do you want a receipt?". However, I accidentally misheard her as saying, "did I give you your receipt?", because I thought she would have already done so when she handed me the $5 (plus coins) in change. As a result, I just flat-out said "no" and she responded with, "oh okay". I felt really bad when I realised that she was actually asking me if I wanted one, not if she had already gave me one. I would have apologised to her for coming across as rude, but she had walked away to get my meal before I had the chance to. Ah well, she was friendly the whole time anyway (even after that had happened).

Looks like the days of inthe00s are over, the site is getting record low ratings, Popedia is beating them at every chance they have. We now have better search rankings then them, does not help that all the important people are being banned. They got rid of SPryo one of my favorite posters.... JUST LOL @ them for making dumb decisions that costed them all of their hits.
POPEDIA is the PREMIER destination for all decade talk

I think we’d all be disappointed if we no longer saw these classy front page headers on the NT newspaper.
