Slater is always open and honest. If Graham Arnold is appointed coach we are screwed. He's a twat of the highest order.

I wouldn't be surprised though if he is appointed as the coach of the national team. He has achieved a lot of success with Sydney FC, so I think he is the most likely to be appointed for the role. I don't think Kevin Muscat would be interested.

Yup. And if not granted, I'd boycott next season.

The FFA are set to announce who the successful bidders are for an expanded A-League competition in the next 24-48 hours. The A-League is likely to expand to 12 teams for the 2019-2020 season, although the FFA have reportedly been considering expanding to 14 teams. A 14-team competition would result in a home-and-away draw where teams play each twice and this is apparently Fox Sports' preferred option.
These are the six remaining bidders:
* Canberra * South Melbourne * "Team 11" (based in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs) * Western Melbourne * South-West Sydney * Southern Expansion (a joint Southern Sydney-Illawarra team, like the St George-Illawarra Dragons in the NRL).
"Team 11" and Western Melbourne do not have stadiums readily available, so that likely won't work in their favour. It's been confirmed that the FFA had advised Southern Expansion to merge with the South-West Sydney consortium last week (which was rejected by SW Sydney), so Southern Expansion are likely out of the running.
Out of the six remaining bidders, I would personally like to see Canberra and South Melbourne added to the competition.

www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/a-league/aleague-expansion-ffa-goes-west-in-massive-move-for-football/news-story/9efccb01ea1051731ab0f55e8f5c1ad4Western Melbourne will be joining the A-League next season, while South-West Sydney will be joining in the 2020/21 season. This is an absolutely ridiculous decision and i'll explain why. Western Melbourne are proposing to build their own stadium out in Tarneit (an outer western suburb of Melbourne), but it won't be ready until the 2022/23 season. Until then, the club will be playing at Kardinia Park, which is a 36,000 capacity oval-shaped stadium and is over 50 kilometres away from where the club are planning to be based. How are they going to build a fan base? Not only will the stadium be way too big, but they're playing games in a city that they're not even going to represent. South-West Sydney, on the other hand, already have a stadium that they could play games in (Campbelltown Stadium), yet they won't be able to join for another two years. How on earth does that make sense?

The Tasmanian A-League bid is still in the works. Great news IMO.

Tasmania pushing for A-League team by 2021 DECEMBER 17, 2018
THE team behind Tasmania’s A-League bid says the state could have its own club in the competition as soon as 2021, after Football Federation Australia’s new chairman flagged further expansion.
Tasmania’s bid appeared dead in the water after the state failed to make the expansion shortlist when it was whittled from 15 to 10 bids by FFA in June.
A-LEAGUE ANNOUNCES EXPANSION RACE WINNERS
A Western Melbourne team will join the competition next season, and a third Sydney club based at Campbelltown will boost the number of A-League clubs to 12 the season after.
However, after confirming the successful bids last week, FFA chair Chris Nikou said his new board was “firmly in favour” of adding more teams, though without a definite timetable.
Nikou said a timetable for moving to 14 teams and then 16 would have to wait for the new operating model for an independent A-League due to be completed by the end of March.
He said his preference would be to add more teams starting the year after the Macarthur South West United team is admitted in 2020-21.
The Tasmanian bid has been backed by Melbourne millionaire Harry Stamoulis, and bid spokeswoman Victoria Morton said Stamoulis was still committed to the state’s push for a future licence.
“From our perspective, we are still here and we’re just waiting for everything to line up,” Morton said.
“The bid is still strong, we are waiting for the new A-League working model to be finalised.”
Morton said Tasmania could have a team in the competition within three years.
“From our point of view, we are ready to start forming our club whenever we’re granted a licence — as soon as possible, from our perspective,” she said.
“I believe the first opportunity would be 2021, unless the new A-League working model changes that.”
While Tasmania’s bid failed to make the 10-team shortlist for the latest round of expansion, Morton said that was not cause for concern.
“We continue to believe our bid is strong and was when first presented,” she said.
“We believe that the selection criteria will be different once the new operating model is in place.”

www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/plans-afoot-for-the-shovel-moment-at-western-united-s-field-of-dreams-20191114-p53aoo.htmlGood to see work is progressing on the new stadium. I still think it's strange that the stadium is going to be built in Tarneit though. I've never been there before myself, but looking at Google Maps, it just seems to be low-density suburbia right on the fringe of Melbourne. I suppose it will become more built-out over the next 10-15 years. Also... I like the concept, but are Sydney FC well known worldwide? I think it's going to take a bit of time for the show to establish a following.

theworldgame.sbs.com.au/brisbane-roar-ramp-up-plans-for-60-million-new-homeThe Brisbane Roar are currently in negotiations to redevelop an existing venue into a 12,000-17,000 capacity stadium. It will be interesting to see if the Roar will be the sole tenants or if they will share the stadium with another team, possibly a 2nd Brisbane NRL team? Either way, I hope it works out for them.
