I was thinking about this earlier. Had the Boston Bombings, MH370 disappearance, the rise of ISIS and terrorist attacks not occurred, do you think the Mid 2010s would have generally been more upbeat/positive or do you believe the era still would have mostly panned out the same?
Personally, I believe pop culture wouldn't have been any different. I don't think the events of the Mid 2010s had to much of an influence on the pop culture scene. The only thing that would have been different would be the general vibe/outlook of the era, in my opinion. The overall vibe/atmosphere of the Mid 2010s would have been much more positive. What are your thoughts on it?

No, I doubt the mid 2010s would have been very different if these specific events didn't occur. However, it was just an accumulation of events that happend in 2012-2014 that got us to where we are today. I guess that's why the mid/late 2010s have been a lot darker than the upbeat, colourful early 2010s.

I personally don't think the events themselves are the cause of the pop culture.

Speaking of events and pop culture, I laughed so hard when one guy from inthe00s thought the hurricanes would cause a cultural shift into early 2020's culture.

I think longaotian was referring to the person who made that post on inthe00s.
