I was going to post this in the "Music" sub-board, however I decided to post it here, because it's more of a general-topic discussion. Considering that many people stream their music now, I thought it would be interesting to hear how many of us have a CD collection. My CD collection isn't huge, however I do own a fair few CD's. The CD's I own are: * "Hybrid Theory" - Linkin Park * "Ten" - Pearl Jam * "Queen: Greatest Hits" - Queen * "Sixteen Stone" - Bush * "Meteora" - Linkin Park * "Razorblade Suitcase" - Bush * "Rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991-2003)" - Pearl Jam * "Greatest Hits" - Spiderbait * "Songs for the Deaf" - Queens of the Stone Age * "System of a Down" - System of a Down * "Toxicity" - System of a Down Do you have a CD collection?

No but I wish I did growing up. I only had a few CD's and the last one I got was back in 2012. I can still do it now but I feel it just doesn't seem necessary considering I can just download music easily on a mobile device. I guess that's just my age showing or something haha
I wouldn't be surpsied if I do collect them one day, I'll just be worried if I will even use them a lot or not.

To be honest, my CD collection only began to take shape a couple of years ago. Before that, I only owned the Linkin Park and System of a Down CD's. I can understand why collecting CD's may not seem necessary, but I think it can be worthwhile. I like to physically own my music collection and it's good to have them on display as well. Also, the overall sound quality of songs is so much better on CD, in my opinion. I used to download my songs onto USB and place the USB into my car stereo, but because I downloaded the songs from YouTube, the overall sound quality wasn't great. It turned me off from downloading songs. It's up to you of course, but I would definitely suggest starting a CD collection of some kind. It's quite enjoyable!

That's pretty impressive! Did you start collecting CDs when they first became available in the Late '80s?

Pretty much. Trying to think of my first one but yeah would have been 89/90. I'll have to go through them to see what was the first. Might have been Jimmy Barnes or the Grease soundtrack or something random.

My CD's that I got were Kanya west songs, skrillix and Deadmau5 music 😂 My parents were the the ones who collected a bunch of CD's oddly enough, they had a whole CD case full of them and sometimes I would borrow them and listen to it on our portable CD player we had. (I miss those actually)

Vinyl is of superior quality to all, of course. And seeing as it has made a huge comeback over the last few years and all. I’ve never actually even thought of once downloading music from YT. I’ve only ever bought songs from either iTunes or from streaming sites that offer higher quality 320kbps downloads. That’s really impressive, Paul! I only have a smallish collection of about 100 or so. I started collecting CD’s in 1997. So my collection obviously consists of hugely popular singles/albums of the late 90s onwards like Aqua, Savage Garden, Silverchair, Hanson, Pearl Jam, Lou Bega, Spice Girls, Tal Bachman etc etc. I also own CD’s to music and tracks featured on various TV shows/movies like The Simspsons, Titanic and so on which were special releases. I personally don’t buy physical media like CD’s these days (last one I bought was sometime in 2011). I either just buy selected tracks on iTunes or just listen on the radio.

That's fair enough. It's not worth downloading songs from YouTube, IMO. I always had to convert the videos into MP3 files, which would compress the quality of the songs as a result. It didn't sound good through my car stereo. Do you like Aqua? That's almost as bad as liking "Achy Breaky Heart"!

No, not really a fan actually! My parents and grandparents bought the albums/singles for me as Christmas presents when I was younger, and I think I only listened to them a few times. Not sure where they even are now either! Ahem, nothing wrong with Billy Ray Sharky!

There are a lot of things wrong with his songs.

I had about 200 odd vinyls too but transferred them all onto a a USB I remember when Billy Ray was on Hey Hey it's Saturday in whatever year that song was out. He was so up himself, Daryl and the gang made fun of him for weeks after

I came across this interesting website yesterday morning. It's an online database of CD releases and you can create an account (which is free) to upload your own CD collection onto the site. It also calculates what the value of each CD is and how much it would be worth if you were to sell each one for a minimum, median or maximum price. This is my CD collection in case you're interested: www.discogs.com/user/SharksFan99/collectionConsidering the fact that I've only got 18 CDs (17 are listed; I need to try and find System of a Down's self-titled), the fact that they have an average value of $158 is pretty decent! I guess I have my two Linkin Park Underground CDs to thank for that though.
