Technology is beneficial in many ways, however it's also having a detrimental impact on our health. As technology continues to develop, tasks that we once did manually are beginning to become obsolete. For instance, instead of going to a DVD store to rent a movie, we can now watch a movie on Netflix anywhere, anytime. There are even robotic vacuum cleaners which can clean your entire house, meaning that you manually don't have to do it yourself.
Because humans aren't physically required to undertake tasks like we used to, we are becoming lazier and gaining more weight. I don't think it's a coincidence that the rate of obesity has increased concurrently with the development of new technologies, such as the internet and smartphones. People are ultimately becoming accustomed to not having to physically undertake a lot of tasks. I think it's likely that the rate of obesity will significantly increase in the next few decades. We are destined to become an "overweight" society. What are your thoughts on it?

Well for starters, there's a thing called a healthy diet. Yeah, I realise that there will always be healthy people and people who exercise regularly. However, I personally think people are collectively becoming more lazier and unhealthy, as technology continues to develop.

I think it's the diet rather than the exercise. It's possible to not exercise and still be slim, as long as you have a healthy diet. People eat a lot of fast food and processed junk food nowadays, and even home-cooked meals have gotten fatter with all the vegetable oil/margarine/salad dressing etc. and other condiments people use.
It's going to get worse because people don't even know what a normal portion of food looks like anymore. I go to any restaurant and they'll give me enough food to feed 5. When I went to America, on the first day for breakfast, I got served 4 pancakes and 3 slices of French toast with maple syrup, and 2 sausages. I think I finished less than half of that and didn't feel like eating for the entire day! The next day I told them to give me roughly half of what I ate yesterday and they looked at me like I was the crazy one! "Are you SURE you don't want more? Really?"

Although, I believe technology can have an equally significant influence on both someone's diet and general well-being. Someone can have a good diet, but if they don't exercise enough, it can still have a negative impact on their health. The conveniency of technology has had an influence on the way in which people consume food. People want things as quick and easy as possible, which is why the ratio of people eating processed junk food has increased over the years. With the greater development of technology, there is a strong chance that the rate of obesity among the public will increase. That's a lot of food I wouldn't have been able to eat that much either, especially for breakfast!

I think people buy more processed food nowadays because they have massive refrigerators. In North America it's pretty common to have 2 or 3 refrigerators in the house nowadays. My mom says she didn't have a fridge in her growing up in the '70s, so they had to buy fresh ingredients and cook it on the same day. Fridges are awesome, couldn't live without them, but I can see how technology makes food more convenient to eat to excess.

It's the processed ingredients in our food and the easily accessible technology that's making us lazier. We simply eat too many calories and don't get much exercise. Many "healthy" foods are actually heavily processed foods that contain unhealthy ingredients. They fool people who are on a weight loss diet in trying to buy their stuff. Our portion sizes are out of control. A large cup in the U.S holds approximately 32 ounces of liquid, which is about one and a half times bigger than a large cup in Japan. Technology is our main entertainment source these days. It requires very little movement. We can order things online instead of walking to the store. We have smartphones that can do so much for us now. The world we live in today is so convenient it's making us shiftless. Unless we actually do something about it, it could get much more worse.
