I'm not 100% sure what qualities I would want in a girl, but I definitely know that I would want a girl who is somewhat similar to me in personality and experiences. I wouldn't even mind if we had zero common interests, as long as she can tolerate mine I'll have no problems.

It’ll be Valentine’s Day soon Personally, I'm not a fan of Valentines Day at the moment but maybe my opinion could change if I have someone to celebrate it with in the future! As for the topic at hand, I'd probably be looking for similar primary features in a potential romantic partner to SharksFan99: Someone who is a kind person, loves me for who I am and is relatable with enough in common to get along. If the person I happen to fall in love with happens to look nice, that's just a bonus! Well, I have a crush on this girl who is in 8th grade. She lives in my neighborhood. She has everything I look for in a girl. Great personality, similar interests, similar kind of humor, very cute, loyal. We used to talk a lot in middle school at the bus stop. She seemed to be into me the last few days when I happened to bump into her at Target. She had the biggest grin on her face when she look at me. I’m thinking I should send her something for Valentines Day if all works out. Aww, cute story!

My ideal romantic partner does not exist because I'm not into dating and romance!

I look for a partner who loves me for who I am on the inside. I want a partner who has similar interests and music taste to me, I don't want a partner who will get frustrated at my hobbies. I've encountered a bad experience when I had a boyfriend who said I was taking astrology too far when it was my top interest (still is) and told me to stop letting astrology take over our relationship. Really, all I was doing was having fun with it and testing it on my friends. He started to blow a fuse with me, then I eventually came to the consensus that we are not made for each other. It was a tough experience for me, but then I moved on and learned about what I really want in a guy.

In any case, I agree that it's important to find someone who respects your own personal hobbies/interests. That's something I would look for in a partner as well. Maybe it's the fact that I have never celebrated Valentine's Day before, but I personally don't like the entire concept of Valentine's Day. It's just a consumerist, marketing ploy by advertisers to capitalise on romance and encourage couples to fork out money on something that is entirely superficial. If a couple really loved each other, why do they need to buy each other material goods on the 14th February every year. I don't see the sense in it. People are struggling to make a living, yet on the 14th February, couples spend hundreds of dollars each year on products that supposedly represents their "love" for each other.

i was honestly waiting for someone to say 100% of what you said about valentines day, it wouldn’t be one of these threads without it 😂

I’m happy you got rid of him, I was in a somewhat similar relationship and it sucked the joy out of me, toxic relationships are sucky. I’m really happy you are over it now and got stronger from it
