I really love the '90s vibe this song has. It's by far my top favorite of the year.

I love all the songs posted in this thread so far. They've been the most played songs in my 2018 pop playlist, along with Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd's Pray For Me

Ugh, this song has been receiving a lot of airplay here at the moment. I actually don't think it's too bad, but i'm starting to get sick of hearing it. I heard it on the radio last night and then, ten minutes later, it was played on a music channel.

Interesting. There's currently a cover of The Cranberries' "Zombie" by a new band called Bad Wolves that's doing quite well on the charts and actually sounds like a rock song, albeit a modernized version of post-post-grunge (they're technically a metal band, but the song still reminds me more of Staind, Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Shinedown, and bands like that). It was supposed to include Dolores O'Riordan as a guest, but since she passed away before getting the chance to record it, it was instead released as a tribute. It has already done extremely well in France and Spain, has charted decently in a number of other countries, and is currently at #4 on the top downloaded songs on the American iTunes.

It's interesting that you should post that, because I read an article about the song just a few hours ago. I'm not sure what your viewpoint on the matter is, but i'm almost certain that rock will make some sort of comeback in the next few years. Frankly, I think comments which suggest that "rock is dead" are ludicrous. There's obviously still a lot of interest in the genre, which is quite good for a genre that is 'supposedly' dying.

While we're on the topic of rock trying to return to the mainstream the way country has been growing in crossover prominence as of late, I do really wish Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson's most recent singles did better on the pop charts. Even though "Sign of the Times" reached #1 last summer, I've since heard "Kiwi" and "Two Ghosts", and I was outright surprised by them. You'd never think either of them were being performed by a former boyband member at a glance. Louis Tomlinson, meanwhile, did not leave too much of an impression on me with the forgettable "Back to You" with Bebe Rexha, but I was in for quite a treat when I stumbled upon his followup single, "Miss You". It leans a bit more towards 2000s pop rock bands like All American Rejects, just with a 2010s sheen, but it's still damn catchy and far more memorable than most hits currently popular. Sadly, the only country where it has done well at all is Belgium, and like I stated earlier, it's super easy for exported music to do well there, probably because it's so small and doesn't have many bands or artists of its own (Kate Ryan is the only one I know about whatsoever). It certainly deserves far more credit than something like "Bartier Cardi", which is definitely one of the worst rap songs I've ever heard in my life.

When I listened to the song for the first time, it only consolidated my newfound respect of Harry Styles as an artist. I really hope his solo career continues to prosper in the next few years, because his debut album proves that he does have talent. I haven't listened to "Miss You" yet, but I will definitely check it out.

Now Shinedown have apparently made a sort of comeback, with their new song "DEVIL" making it into the iTunes top 10.
Things do finally seem to be changing quite a bit in the music world. By the looks of it, the near future may see a little less trap and EDM (though they'll still be around) and instead more country-pop hybrids like "Meant to Be" and "Say Something", as well as actual rock music intermixed with all the repetitive dullness. Migos' new album hasn't even been that successful, considering how ubiquitous the trio was in America throughout 2017. I hope the increased variety continues, at least.

Another rock song released. Could rock possibly make a comeback? Thanks for sharing the link to it. I wasn't actually aware that it had been released and Pearl Jam are one of my favourite bands, so i'll definitely give it a listen! I don't want to get my hopes up (in case it doesn't eventuate to anything), but there have been a few signs that rock may be making a gradual comeback to the mainstream. As someone who has always been a fan of rock music, I hope that it is the case!
