Adelaide will host a State of Origin match in 2020 to be played on a Sunday afternoon. I think it's ridiculous that Adelaide will be hosting a State of Origin match, especially considering the fact that the city doesn't have a team in the national competition. Sunday afternoon is a strange time-slot as well. I know that it makes it easier for young families to attend it, but it isn't particularly a great decision from a television perspective. The State of Origin isn't going to receive the same ratings as it does in Brisbane and Sydney, which means that it's not a good lead-in for Nine News Adelaide.

So...we're getting a Sydney Roosters v Melbourne Storm Grand Final next Sunday. Get ready for a week of media coverage where Mike Dalton on Nine News Sydney will probably be the only shining light in what will likely be a week of torturous, cringeworthy and even politicalised (I'm fully expecting Gladys Berejiklian & Daniel Andrews to embarrass themselves, because this is a true Sydney v Melbourne Grand Final) media coverage in the lead-up to the game! With all due respect to the more sensible Roosters & Storm (Sharks too) fans out there, just about the only other positive thing I can say is that at least the Grand Final isn't going to be between the Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks. Sorry SharksFan99, but having a faux media rivalry between Scott Morrison (goes without saying really) and Gladys Berejiklian (who's electorate I'm pretty sure is in Roosters territory) probably would've been far too much to cope with!

I'm sure the Liberal Party would have been hoping for a Sydney Roosters v Cronulla Sharks GF, as not only would it have been an opportunity to present the Premier and Prime Minister as being relatable to the public, the increased media focus would have also detracted from the internal issues currently within the Party.

www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-16/parramatta-eels-knock-back-deal-to-play-at-new-stadium/10382846The Parramatta Eels have turned down a deal to play at the new Western Sydney Stadium, citing financial reasons. The club reportedly would have had to pay a stadium rent fee of $210,000 per game, which is a stark contrast to the $70,000 they were paying at the knocked-down Parramatta Stadium. IMO, good on the club for rejecting the deal. A $210,000 stadium rental fee would be ridiculous and no club should have to pay that to play at a stadium. There are rumours that the Western Sydney Wanderers are considering rejecting the deal as well, but nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
