Easily the 2000s, the peak of my gaming was in that decade. The 6th generation was probably the absolute peak of video gaming.

1990s and 2000s. Specifically the 4th & 6th generations; 4th perfected the 2D/Cartoony side-scrolling aesthetic first brought into the mainstream in the 3rd generation, while 6th perfected the 3-D/Semi-realistic aesthetic and subsequent gaming mechanics brought into the mainstream with the 5th generation. 3rd, 5th, & even the 7th generations were the 'transformative generations', while the 4th and 6th generations were the 'refined generations'. Don't have much of opinion prior to the 3rd generation, and the 8th generation has been pretty sub-par (hopefully the 9th takes things up a notch). 8th gen basically perfected hd gaming since the Wii was sd the entire 7th generation.

I’m torn between the late ‘90s/early ‘00s thanks to Blizzard’s Craft games, Dungeon Siege and the like, and the last decade which was pretty amazing when it comes to games pushing the envelope and games as an art medium, with stuff like NieR: Automata and Hypnospace Outlaw.

I played videogames only during the 2000s and 2010s, though the games in the 2010s were better probably cause I was older and more experienced. We had a sega during the 90s, but I never played on it. I was mainly just watching my brother play on it.

2010s was a solid year in gaming, especially 2017/2018.

2010s. One of my favourite games during that decade were Witcher 3, AC Origins, AC Black Flag, GTA 5, Halo 4, and Far Cry 3.

The decade spanning 1991-2001, so the '90s basically. Each year felt completely revolutionary and developers tried new and innovative things. I liked 2007-2011 to a lesser for much the same reason. The introduction of online gaming was really exciting and the rise of Steam/XBLA/PSN gave a space to many creative indie games. Honourary mention to the late 1980s. I've been discovering more of the Sega Master System and TurboGrafx 16 library and there are so many hidden gems, especially ones that never left Japan. I would say the innovative era you associate with the '90s lasted until 2007 on the PC, ending with Crysis. Personally I think the golden age of consoles was the original NES up through the PS2, peaking with the N64.

I vote 10s because in my book, amazing graphics matter! Plus you can't deny how immersive some game environments are becoming. What I don't like about the '10s is everything is so multiplayer focused. I've always preferred single player games and this past decade has really sucked in that respect. There were some great ones like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite, and Doom 2016, but AAA gaming has mostly been focused on multiplayer FPS titles like Call of Duty.

And the trend of lootboxes and microtransactions.

I grew up in the Y2K party game era of Mario Kart, Mario Party, Smash Bros. etc. 2002-2006 felt very dry in that department, but when Wii Sports came out and online gaming took off, it felt like I had friends again LOL Probably why I didn't like 6th gen gaming that much, but enjoyed 7th gen.

Ah. I can definitely see your point of view if you were into consoles. However, I was a PC enthusiast during that era and I think to this day, the early and mid 2000s was the absolute best time to be a PC gamer. The debut of 7th gen consoles saw the focus shift back towards consoles and the PC began to take more of a back seat. However, 7th gen wouldn't have been what it was if not for the boundaries that were pushed on the PC during that 2002-2006 era.
