Sounds like our “childhood was better than theirs” statement. He never said that one was better than the other. You're just applying your own opinions to his statement. Nah not really, if you read his quote he makes it seems like kids don’t watch tv and play video games and all they do is watch fortnite. That’s not applying it to my own opinion, i’m only noticing words where it seems like that.

It's based on what I have seen, plus you were 8 in 2012, not 2019. When I think of the Gacha Life and Fortnite fanbase I think of today's 8 year olds, and I can tell many users of those things are like 8, 9, 10, you know. While I still think that 8 year olds had better kid stuff in the early 2010s I don't think that late 2010s 8 year olds are all awful brats (though there's some that are). My cousins are 9 and 7 and they're nice and playful. Although every 8 year old from every generation were or are spoiled brats.

While again I hate the late 2010s I don't mind mid-late 2010s kids having nostalgia for what they like, even though it does make me feel old.

Now that we're in 2020 it stuns me how complete opposites this year feels from 10 years ago.
In 2010, we were slowly getting out of a worldwide crisis while pop culture was boiling with exciting new releases in music, movies, series and technology.
In 2020, we are falling head first into a worldwide crisis with major consequences still to face yet, while pop culture is basically stood still.

2010 was relatively optimistic from my memory. I really miss that year and that era of my life.
2020 is the darkest year I've ever experienced and by far the worst year of my life thus far.

I hope this crisis ends soon and that 2020 doesn't become a lost year for anybody

2010 was like a fake optimism Hey hey lets dance while the economy is in the shitter yeah Taio Cruz! I liked that tbh. Pop music is supposed to be fun. Who looks to pop music for deeper meaning? Whenever they try it it sounds so lame, especially since pop stars are super rich and live comfortable lives by any standard.

2010 was like a fake optimism Hey hey lets dance while the economy is in the shitter yeah Taio Cruz! What should be done then? Depress people even more? It was a great call to take pop culture in such a positive and uplifting direction when the times were rough. Loads of people have happy memories of the early 2010s as a result. We definitely need it right now as well.

The early 2010s wouldn't have been what they were in my opinion without electropop and especially without the likes of Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry. Today's repetitive trap and lo-fi mood doesn't compare in my opinion.
