Oasis: Were they Beatles "ripoffs"?

Throughout their career, Oasis were often noted for their 'similarities' with The Beatles. At times, the band were accused of being blatant Beatles "ripoffs" and being imitators of the band. While I won't deny the fact that they were heavily influenced by The Beatles, I personally don't think they were "ripoffs" in any way. They were a band in their own right and they had their own unique sound. What are your thoughts on it? Do you believe Oasis were a ripoff of The Beatles?
