I remember that day so clearly. My parents grabbed my and my siblings and quickly shoved us into a room before locking the door. My mother started crying hysterically while my dad punched holes in the walls. I sat in the corner, frightened, while my siblings were trying to calm down my parents. I remember my sister grabbing my mom's shoulder and shaking her, asking her what's wrong. My mom stopped crying for a second, looked at my sister and whispered to her, tears running down her cheek.
"I'm afraid....," she quietly said. "a shift has occurred...".
At that moment, all the color in my sister's face faded. Her eyes widened as the reality of what was going on dawned on her. She approached me and crouched down.
"Ofkx, I'm so sorry..." she said, her voice shaking.
"What happened?" I asked. I could see tears beginning to well in her eyes.
"A shift happened..." she said.
At that moment I was paralyzed. I wanted to scream, cry, but I couldn't.
My brother turned on the news channel on the TV. The news anchor was biting his lips, holding back tears. His hands were trembling as he held the paper.
"A shift has occurred." the news anchor said. "We ask all citizens to please remain calm, and to not panic."
He finally broke down, tears bursting through his eyes.
"I'm so sorry folks," He cried. "but this is the end of pop culture as we know it! From this day onwards, movies, TV shows, technology, games, fashion, music, and every single thing in the world is going to be SH*T!"
The broadcast quickly went off at that moment. The words 'TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES; PLEASE STAND BY" appeared on the screen with stripes of colors behind it.
That is the last thing I remember from that day.
