Not a state, and not even in a state, but I think Toronto could be the most 2010s city. The whole vibe of the city plus the fact that it produced Drake and The Weeknd gives it a good case IMO. The city is also very influenced by Carribean cultures (mainly Jamaican), which were also very influential in 2010s pop culture.

Now that I’ve thought about it, I feel like the 2000s might actually be better represented by Alabama. Because they are very conservative and backwards, and there’s tons of suburbs and malls. There is that communitarian if conformist vibe as well. Alabama is also the most Southern state of them all. It also does have a coastline, so…
Like, just driving through the state makes me feel like I’m in 2004 again, for better or worse.

Billboards like this remind me so much of the Bush era lol It’s interesting seeing just how different the southern U.S is. I live in New Jersey, which is probably one of the bluest states, and you’d pretty much never see a billboard like that up here. We’ve always been pro-choice and never thought about criminalizing abortion.

NOLA could actually be the most 2000s city ever. Not only were they the most hard-hit city by Katrina, but they also embody the kind of suburban heterosexual black culture that permeated the 2000s. Disney's Princess and The Frog was also set there. Oh, and Lil Wayne, and all the Cash Money rappers in general. Los Angeles is the embodiment of hype beast 2010s culture in the form of the city. Come to think of it California is the most 2010s state.
